If my house got trashed and jizzed all over the last thing I'm going to do is to permanently stigmatize my property as the 'Baby Pablum Grenade House' by going out of my way to announce it to world via the media. I would quietly collect from Air BnB/Insurance and move on from that McBurbhouse to another down the street.

It doesn't make sense, you're willing to open your home to strangers for an extra couple hundred bucks gain but then you intentionally go smear your home in the media to downgrade it's value by 10's of thousands of dollars??

AirBNB is getting really unpopular in some European cities, Reykjavik is actively going after renters because of our laws currently say you have to get a license to do this.

The problem this new type of service is doing is creating a big problem in popular city destinations, landlords are no longer renting to locals because they can make much more money with tourists, so cities that are already expensive to find a place to rent are getting much worse.

In a small city like Reykjavik they estimate over 1000 apartments are now strictly for rent to tourists because of the tourism boom here, and this has raised rent prices as well, its infuriating.
