Stone is the least deserving of the Calder IMO.

I saw Gaudreau at 2/1 today somewhere.

Eastern teams. Prepare for it now.

Do you have a link to any of these?
Or at least a number / head count vs. how many are unknown? Is it so many that it leads one to that conclusion?
I heard someone post a few days ago the fact that Alfredson is there to present the Calder means Stone is a lock. He never came back to post a link to that.
Not saying it's untrue, would just be nice to see some evidence to this effect.

I could only find McKenzie

Friedman and Dreger have said the same.

There are 180 members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association, according to Wikipedia. Here's hoping the other 177 members voted for Johnny!

I'm annoyed they announced Alfredsson would be handing out the award. If Stone does in fact win, did the NHL really need to "leak" that a week before the event? Almost makes it anti-climactic...

I think people are reading too much into Alfredsson giving out the award. The logical explanation is that they wanted a recently retired player who was a Calder winner.

Lots of people are reading into Alfredsson giving out the award because he also tweeted this.

I'm nearly 100% certain that this, and only this, is the reason Alfreddsson is presenting the award. I've thought that all along. Since when does the league have a history of purposefully finding someone from the same franchise to present the award to the winner? Perhaps they've done it a couple of times, but it's not anywhere remotely near being a habit.
I would tend to read absolutely nothing into Alfredsson being picked.

Burke mentioned something at the STH event last week that I hadn't heard before.
He said that in the last few years, the league has changed the voting procedure for the awards. It used to be that every member of the Hockey Writers Association had one vote for each award and that was it, which gave an advantage to players from Toronto and Montreal since they have many more PHWA members than other cities. Now, the writers in each city get one vote total for each award. If there are 30 writers in Toronto, they get one collective vote, and the 6 writers in Buffalo also get one collective vote. He also said that the league has some votes as well.
I don't know what that means for the national reporters like McKenzie and Friedman.

If Stone wins that's great for him but there are more American votes and I have a hard time believing the majority would have him ahead of Ekblad or Gaudreau. I don't see many votes for Johnny from Canadian media as he's not going to get anything out of the Vancouver and Edmonton markets out of spite from their voters and eastern voters are on the Stone bandwagon so it's really going to be up to the American votes.

Does that mean Alfie is bringing his Calder so he can give it to Stone after Johnny wins this year's Calder?!?

No matter who wins, it is just amazing that the Flames lead the way with 4 award finalists this year. Who would have thunk it?

I know the house always wins anyway but it's unbelievably rigged to have betting odds for something decided months ago.

Alfy handing it out is a distraction so Gaudreau now has a 50% chance of winning.
