I thought he deserved something for what he did. 50 G's I thought was a bit much though.
Also if you live just off of Austin in Coquitlam then there is a good chance I've delivered mail to you.

Hartley should pay the fine by having Bollig, Engelland, Smid, McGrattan, and Bouma all show up together at league HQ with the money.

They should recall McGratton just for the reaction...
Then dress him.

Wow, 50G's for Hartley for something that he didn't mean to contribute. It's not like Hartley's a goon coach. And it's not like the Canucks coach had the pansy line out there either.

I'd like to see Hartley start the game with this lineup on Sunday:
Gaudreau, McGrattan, Ferland
Engelland, Bollig
Flames defense to that: Gaudreau needs protection from the goofballs from the Canucks.

Deserved something for what he did?
For putting out the 4th line and 3rd defensive pairing?
At 50k per, that would cost the average NHL coach about a quarter million a game.

I still get angry watching ferland and bollig each being restrained by an official while richardson goes ground and pound on stajan while the third official stands and watches while two canucks engage engelland. Whatever, it's done. Let's go to war tomorrow night.

The Flames will probably cover the fine. These guys make enough money that the fine is pretty much moot. It is also already crowd funded. If anything it is a great rally cry.

Don't see the reason for much anger here. It all basically worked out. Engelland punched a guy that was down and Richardson hit a guy that was down. Game misconducts appropriately handed out (Hamhuis). No suspensions. Bad blood. Ready. Set. Go.

Hartley knew what was going to happen when he put those guys out when the game was out of reach. A fine was deserved.

No fine for Richardson for trying to injure stajan? The refs and linesman not suspended or fined for losing all control?
This is what the team needed to galvanize them even more. We are going to run them out of canada.

Yup and Willie knew what would happen with who he put out.
Hamhuis blatantly lied about a linesman/referee telling him to help aid a 1-1 fight.
Richardson gouged Stajan's eye.
But for sure, let's focus on Hartley "knowing what was going to happen" and justifying a 50k fine.

Dorsett was the only guy on the ice who is considered a fighter for the Canucks. It all started when Bollig skated towards Lack well after the whistle and pushed Hamhuis. He and Hartley had an agenda at that was to try and get under the skin of the Canucks and try and get some momentum going into game 3.
If Canucks didn't push back on that then you guys would be calling them soft and can't hang with the big boys, but they fight back and now they are considered cheap and dirty. However the Flames are awesome for starting the whole thing.

Hartley was definitely sending a message and the fine is justified, though excessive. It's the repeat offender that makes it so I suppose.
I don't have a problem in the end with the punishment or lack thereof, but I think the second man in thing for Hamhuis should've been liked at of Engelland was going to receive anything

I seem to recall hearing that coach's fines cannot be covered by the team - this came up after the Torts/Hartley altercation last year. But there is nothing I believe to stop the players from coughing up some bucks. And Hartley makes ~$2M so he can afford it - not that Mrs. Hartley (is there one?) would be too happy about that!

As has been posted several times, the total fighting majors on the ice were 17 for the Flames and 23 for the Nucks. That Stajan is a real goon.
As to the bold: well yeah. Is there a team or coach in the history of the NHL that wouldn't want to set the tone late in a game? To my recollection though, there aren't fines every night.

Can someone please put the video that shows Engelland punching Dorset while he was down? I have looked everywhere and found no evidence of this. I've only read that this is what Hamhuis said, but there is no video evidence of this anywhere. There's plenty of video evidence of Richardson doing this to Stajan.
In the video i've seen, it's Engelland and Dorset wrestling, Dorset went down on one knee, and then got back up and then Hamhuis comes flying in and Engelland starts throwing punches at both.
