Gillies seems pretty average in big games.

I realize he's not always on the best teams, but he couldn't steal any games for Team USA at the WJC's and hasn't led the Friars to any championships. He puts up big numbers but these are the games where a blue chipper will shut the door.

They might win this game still, but doesn't sound like he's playing all that well.

He's been left out to dry a lot, the first goal was bad on his part but I can't blame him too much for the other 2. Been making a lot of point blank saves aswell

Yeah, he lost a lot of hype with a poor performance and not winning anyone over here. 3 goals isn't a big deal, but that softie was ugly.

Small sample size and he's young, but you want him to steal it.

The first goal was a bit soft (but also a bit miraculous as 99/100 times that doesn't find room).

The next two were just Acciari and Mauermann being crappy. Can't Jankowski just play the whole game?

Great seeing Janko with a goal!

It's a veritable shooting gallery out there for BU. Have close to 40 shots on goal, and lots have been quality scoring chances.

Another important defensive play by Jankowski. steals the puck in the corner and skates it out.

O'Connor didn't even see that shot. Lucky it didn't go in. Providence came so close there.

He's the reason Providence is in this game. They are getting outplayed, outhit and outshot by BU. Faced 40 shots already.

Brutal giveaway to Eichel. Big save by Gillies.

Yeah, funny as I haven't seen Providence play this year before this tournament. I was expecting a "elite defensive" team. Given, they're playing Eichel and co (and the other teams are strong in their own right) but whatever their defensive strengths were this season - they aren't using now.

It's almost like the Flames draft picks playing this game have been fantastic. Hickey for BU has been solid.

Has there been any talk of Janko going pro after this game?

16 more saves for Gillies than O'Connor.

Not from any credible source. Mostly fan speculation.

edit: Believe Treliving said he thought Jankowski would benefit going back for his senior season at the STH event a few days ago
