People say this is Treliving's team and Burke doesn't meddle. This has Burke written all over it, BRUTAL!!!

Not a bad return for a soft skill player with almost zero production outside of like 3 games

Waiver status of Sven going forward a huge part of why this trade was made.

This doesn't make sense at all. Unless we flip the second for something.

Bottom line is if they didn't see him any longer as an NHLer I get it. This could bite the team back though. Sven was a guy I thought would be quite the player.

Sven has all the tools.
I view this as a failure. The Flames failed to develop him correctly. Feaster and Burke are to blame.

Dammit! Not to Vancouver out of all places! Still a young guy but I guess he was a diminishing asset so Flames cashed in as soon as possible. This gives us 3-second round picks in the upcoming draft though which could be exciting in a deep draft.
I wonder if Feaster will tweet about this trade?

Dealing the Glencross and Sven 2nds elsewhere for a young roster player or prospect?
Could be more shoes to drop. At least I hope.

Because he's waiver eligible come October, at which point we'd get virtually nothing for him as teams know they could get him for free if they wait.
I liked Sven, but he got pushed out by our other prospects.

The trade is meh. He wasn't being given a shot, and now Vancouver has to twiddle their thumbs after the 1st round all the way until the 3rd. As Treliving said before, it's not a fun place to be at the draft table.

Not a fan of this to be honest. For that price, I'd rather haven given a chance the rest of the year, and trade him in the summer if needed.

That's a really good point, and since there's a really good chance he doesn't make the team out of camp, this is probably a good trade.

13th overall who's yet to show real substance, but his value's dropped to being a mid-round 2nd round pick??
to a division rival??
to the nucks??
i can't believe there wasn't a similar type d prospect out there to be had. i was happy at an uneventful deadline other than the expected glencross and depth d move. this one leaves a pretty sour taste.
i am curious what the flames have planned at the draft. three 2nd rounders, sounds intriguing.

Not surprised he got traded. He just couldn't seem to do enough to impress management to stay.
Good for him. A fresh start with another team may do him the world of good.
Good luck Sven. I hope you have a long and fruitful career in the NHL but you're snake bit every time you play the Flames.

To risk trading him to the Canucks they should have at least got the same return Connolly got. A second isn't enough
