Hey we have been coming back in the third period to win the game all year, got to kind of expect that it was going to happen to us eventualy.
Enjoy the wins, suck up the losses and move on, you cannot change the result. Time for this team to pack up their bags and go out on the road for a bit of good old team bonding (and some nice early start times for those of us in Europe)
Plenty of opportunities for Ramo and Hiller to get in the net and grab some reins. Hopefully both goaltenders push eachother while battling for the confidence of the coaching staff.

Two straight losses without Paul Byron in scenarios where we usually dominate (OT, 3rd period with a lead).
Dude is so damn important to our team.
Also, Bollig over Jooris and Granlund over Wolf, dumb moves on Hartley's behalf.
If not for the ensuing 5 on 3, I think Bollig could have made his presence worthwhile by beating Stoner into a pulp after the crosscheck on Gaudreau.
Since that did not happen, Bollig was a waste. Jooris brings energy to the team without needing to drop the gloves; hopefully Hartley does not forget that after tonight.
5 games above .500 may be asking a lot right now. We'll see how this roadie goes. More than a couple of those teams are very beatable right now.
This is a problem that every one of the teams in the playoff hunt is facing. I think something that is likely to help the Flames is also the fact that the other three PacDiv teams in the mix have quite a few remaining games against one another: SJ and Van each play 5, and LA plays 6. There are guaranteed losses to go along with guaranteed wins for all of those teams—only one team can run the table, which puts the other two in a precarious position, and is good for the Flames. If they all end up fairly square against one another, then that is also good for the Flames, as it eases some pressure on them to maintain a high winning percentage. If one team falters, then it is very likely that the Flames are in by default.
Minnesota and Winnipeg also both face a fairly tall order, having lots of remaining games against the top four in the West (6 for the Jets; 8 for the Wild), and Winnipeg especially also has 6 remaining games against PacDiv teams, with whom they have struggled ALOT.

Pissed at the result, we blew chances to put the Ducks away, but bigger picture, this is a fantastic season.
Now is probably a good time to head out on the road. There seemed to me to be pressure building up on anticipating such a long trip that it added more pressure to get wins over Minnie and Anaheim.
It'll be nice to get this trip out of the way. If we can do well on it, we will set ourselves up nicely for the hone stretch.
I'm quite surprised to see that nobody mentioned the good 1st period. That alone is progress, regardless of the rest of the game. They were also pretty good in the 2nd, another period where they have traditionally not been as dominant. For whatever reason, they crapped the bed in the 3rd, but I'll give them a pass for all the incredible 3rd periods we've seen this year.
A little bummed at the result only because its Anaheim and I feel a little like this after that game:

any time you have a game where Wideman plays more the TJ Brodie we are going to lose!!! Don't know why Gio and Wideman have decided they should start playing the entire power play either! Ever here of a line change!

Tough to see that loss after finally starting a game the right way.
I'm still choked at the refs for letting the Ducks take a lot of cheap shots. I don't know if it would have changed the outcome, I just hate seeing it.

This is one of the reasons why sportsclubstats lists the Flames' chances so high.
Probably the best scenario for the Flames is for one of the three teams to run the table on the other two, increasing the chances that the Flames finish ahead of those two and get no worse than 3rd in the division.
Easily the worst game of Gaudreau's career, but I blame Hartley more than anyone. Lets put small players who have been fighting the puck lately up against big, highly skilled players out for defensive zone faceoffs over and over. Recipe for disaster.
That said, and while Gaudreau's lazy penalty turned the game on its ear, that was a team loss. After we gave the Ducks the chance to take control, we never got it back. A shame, because that first half of the game was very well played by the Flames.
I haven't had the chance to see the last few games so I can't comment on Gaudreau's play.
I trust the coaching staff knows whats best for him. It is a critical phase of his development though. Hartley said it, regardless of his 60 minute play, he can change the game in a split second. When you are in the playoff race, you need players who provide that.
I will say that I didn't expect a healthy and assertive David Jones to be such an important part of the team. I like how he has been playing lately.

Guess you missed the game against the Bruins?
Gaudreau wasn't great, but I thought he was better than he was against Boston.
We keep saying we need top 4D , looking at the stats of our top 4, life is not that bad, matter of fact if we were to discuss early on where we think we would be, they are over achieving. after top4, well that's self explanatory lol. But top end skill to take advantage of our man advantage and power plays, man we have a ton of room to make improvements. Not convinced we have any top 6 talent besides Bennett, hence why we cant wait to get a look at him
we have done an awesome job of scoring by committee especially 5 on 5 and 4 on 4 , but man we need a ton of help on powerplay, to me that was the difference maker in this game. Tired of watching pilons stand there. Its like watching baseball and only people moving is the pitcher and batter
