Stanley Cup champions for a reason?
No worries, we just bring our best next game.

The most frustrating thing is we have 6/8 pts vs LA, which is great... but LA has managed to gain 4/8 since they've picked up 2 loser points as well.

But, we got the tie-breaker on them, and SJ.

Yup. Monahan more often than not gets it done so he deserves a break on this, but it would be nice to see him not miss the net. It's happened quite a few times lately. Seems his sights are off a bit.

Looking at the stats, it's pretty simply. The Flames best players had a horrific night. Gio, Brodie, were big minuses, same for the top line Monahan, Hudler and Gaudreau, who all saw less ice time than normal (the latter received some benchings at various times). Wideman and Russell weren't much better stats wise.
Meanwhile the Kings' top line (which oddly doesn't contain their best forward in Kopitar IMO) had a monster night.

Yeah, that reminds me of the start of the last losing streak

I'm a bit concerned about the terrible performances in 2 of our last 3 games. Hopefully they will come to play against the Canucks or I'll really start to worry.

While I am far from suggesting the loss was at all Hillers fault, he saw a lot of shots from outside last night that he should have gobbled up and instead coughed up a rebound causing a fire drill in the flames end.

I hate all that interference, and I hate that what is considered a penalty seems to change throughout the year.
The Kings almost dare the officials to call all of it. Inevitably they don't have the cajones to put King after King in the box and the Kings gain an advantage. They employ the same strategy in the playoffs where the refs really tend to "put their whistles away".
It has worked for them so I see why they do it. Still frustrating to watch.

I'm not getting how people are freaking out on the officials.
IMO the worst call of the night was allowing Raymond's goal to count. Quick is a bit of a hothead at times, but I felt he had a legit beef with that play. Goals have been waved off for less contact than that this year.

The Kings were imploding in the second. We had a real opportunity to stick a foot on their throats. That miss by Monahan really let them off the hook.
I'm not pinning this on him though because despite his miss we still had the lead, but in no way did our performance warrant keeping it.
It was a stinker of a game pretty much from start to finish other than a five minute spell. Hopefully they get over it by getting angry and taking it out on Vancouver.

A lot of the Flames looked burnt out... especially Gio and Hiller ran out of gas but didn't get much help out front... The extra day off hurt rather than helped them

Whole lot of flu going around the team.
Two bad games in February is not a huge concern. Now, if it continues...

I don't think it should have counted either. If it was on our end, there would be an uproar about it. But the Flames had a real chance to stick a dagger in the King's heart with the ensuing power play because of Quick's temper tantrum and they couldn't get it done.
I have faith in the Flames when it comes to outscoring the opposition. But we are terrible at locking things down defensively and those last second goals really have to stop.

If one of Gaudreau's two on ones would have turned into a goal the game was ours in my opinion. Good to see the team staying in the tough games despite being outplayed.
