Those loser points are saving the a#### of the teams that can't finish worth a damn. Whatever, we'll take care of business ourselves then if we have to.

It's all these stinking central teams that came out of nowhere that are presenting problems.

I'd say "at least they're facing each other" but they'll probably all just give each other enough loser points that they somehow catch up to us with records like 14-0-20 while we'll could probably go "only"21-13-0" in the same stretch and lose our six-seven point lead.

IMO if the last wild card position just keeps going up and up, and there is say a 10 point difference between LA and that wild card, they'll be finished. Dallas and Colorado and Minnesota and all the Van/Win/SJS seem to be the main problems right now. Never thought I'd say that

All these teams play each other quite a bit over the next few games. Calgary's destiny is in their own hands. SJx2, Pittsburgh, LA and Vancouver up next. They need to just continue to roll. I'd take 3 out of 5 but hoping for 4.

If we beat San Jose tomorrow in regulation we'll move into a tie in points for 2nd in the Pacific but we'll be in second because of ROW.

I'd be fine with 3 of 5 (have to be realistic), if we can drag one loss to OT or something. Ya know, just to give other teams fans the same headaches they've been giving us.
But honestly, if they continue their play from last night and late against Edmonton, I have very few worries that we'll hold our own. Just need to stay hungry.

Just crazy where the Flames are considering they went 7 straight games without notching a single point.
Oh well, I gotta keep telling myself, year two of the rebuild, they are in a way better spot than I ever thought possible 4 months ago.
All this meaningful hockey is just pure gravy.

I, too, am somewhat amazed.
It has helped that both Vancouver and San Jose have failed to really 'take off' in that whole time and we've turned the tables going 11-5-1 since the debacle.

Worst. Possible. Result.

Yep, either team winning in OT was bad.

True about outplaying and staying ahead of the Canucks and Sharks, but the other side of the coin says outplaying the Central teams in this wild card race, it won't matter how well the Canucks and Sharks do.

The Lightning were ahead 1-0 since the 5 minute mark of the 1st period with a goal from Paquette. The Blues didn't have much in the way of shots, just 2 in the 1st period and 5 in the 3rd period but Tarasenko scored his 26th goal with just over 3 minutes left in reg time to tie it. Schwartz wins it in OT for the Blues, 2-1 and have now won 6 straight games. Elliot bailed his team out with 30 saves for the win and puts the Blues just 2 points back of the Predators for 1st place in the western conf. The Capitals win 4-0 over the Kings, Holtby get the SHUTOUT with 27 saves. The Wild win 3-0 over the Bhawks, Dubnyk with the 24 save SHUTOUT. The Wild owned the Bhawks in the 2nd period out shooting them 24-5. Crawford seemed to be the only player on the ice at times as he faced 43 shots. The Wild have won 4 straight now. The Panthers get a surprise win, 4-2 over the Islanders on Long Island. The win keeps the cats with a blip on the eastern playoff radar, 7 back of the Bruins. The Hurricanes-Ducks game was a good one. After a scoreless 1st period, the goals started happening as the Ducks won 5-4 in OT. Carolina scores on a penalty shot and the Getzlaf-Perry combo strikes again twice, the 2nd time was the OT winner. The who cares games had the Coyotes win 4-1 over the BJs and the Devils won 2-1 over the Senators in reg time.

Yep. You have to take things in to your own hands. If the Flames have to depend on the OOT scoreboard they are probably going to miss the playoffs.

I would argue the current point system is designed to be unfavourable when looking at OOT all the time. It is simply luck when a bunch of results go the right way on the same night. But that is because the NHL wants artificial parity, and yup, it means that we need to keep winning.

The jets had made a deal with the deal with the devil. Tonight we shall overtake them by beating San Jose
