Joni Ortio is making Bob Hartley's decision on reactivating Karri Ramo and send Him back to Adirondack. It is actually good in a way that they don't have to rush Ramo back. I would say Hartley should stick with the hot goalie against the Kings. Ortio's game was much better on this call-up than last season. He is much more poised, strong on the glove side and good control on the puck. Last season it is easy to push the puck to the net after he makes the save. Three capable goaltenders is a good problem for Hartley to have.
Joe Colborne, Sean Monahan, Mikael Backlund and Lance Bouma been playing well lately. They are peaking at the right time.

Really interesting to see Friedman, Strombo and Kypreos kind of just disregard everything Cox says. I've really gotten more and more impressed with Kypreos' insight. He is a former player, which none of the other three are, and I feel like he just brings a better insight.

I hated Kypreos when he was just on Sportsnet, was just a blowhard who yelled a lot and didn't add anything to the conversation. But now with the national deal he's like a completely different commentator, well thought out insights and doesn't try to speak above anyone else. He's gone from one of the reasons I hated watching Sportsnet to one of the best panel guys they have

5 deciding shootout goals + his 5 GWG means he's directly been responsible for 10 of the 55 wins we've had that he's played in so far.

That's 18.2% of our wins with him in the lineup.

Monahan has played 45 games so far this year and is already 3 assists over his rookie season of 12 and 9 goals shy with 30 games left to match his total of 22 in 75 games last year. He's also been a stud defensively this year and has turned his -20 from last year into a +7 thus far. He's definitely looking to be on pace to an absolutely (said like Kelly Hrudey) stellar sophomore season Great to see!!

My theory is that this is probably closer to who the real guy is. I bet on SN before they were trying to develop him into their "big personality" like a Don Cherry. LOUD. EXTREME OPINIONS.
Now he's part of a much larger team with way more experienced guys - plus Cherry is now on the same network.
So he can settle in and just offer good insight.
His work is probably the most surprising thing about the broadcasts this season.

I love the resiliency of this team. Getting the crap beat out of them for most of the second and third periods and still walk away with two points. Nice.

He was horrible when he first started, but he has really grown into his job over the last few years. I thought he was getting a lot better even before Sportsnet took total control. He's definitely come a long way and is a broadcaster I'm starting to respect.
