just wanted to say the Legend of Zelda riffs done between plays by the resident organist did not go unnoticed!
Made a 4 - 1 win over the Oilers that much more entertaining haha

I was at the game tonight. I don't think it was a fantastic performance by the Flames, particularly the second period. But it was clearly enough, so I'm not complaining.
But the Oilers really are a complete disaster. One thing about seeing a game live (as opposed to TV) is that you get to see a wider view of everything, and it really exposed just how bad they are.
Did anyone see the Oilers fan chuck his jersey onto the ice and march up the stairs sulking? Awesome.

My final count was 1 jersey, 2 hats and 6 paper bags.

The Flames have seven victories this season when trailing after two periods. The Oilers have seven wins all season.

Sooooooo.... Did this clinch 1st star of the week for JOHNNY HOCKEY?
If only he completed the 2nd straight Natural Hat Trick!

Is a natural just three straight? I thought it had to be the first goal too.

Nice to get the win against the No Good, three quick goals in the first and cruise home in time for left over turkey curry.
Meant to add, when do you think Mac T will have seen enough to pull the trigger on a trade............................................. ......... (probably never as they are too hard)

The biggest problem for Mac T is no one wants any of Edmonton's junk. Even the stars are tainted goods now.

How bad must their new coach feel right now? This could be a very short NHL career for him as well.

I'm not really sure about the rules with the fire helmet, but I thought last night it was up to Johnny to award it to someone else, so he could not get it because it would be pointless to have the guy stand up in front the team and say " I was the hero in tonight's game"

Which is why he is a deer in the headlights when it comes to trades because he knows he is not going to get back what he should if they were actually any good, which they are not(right now).

I'm sure the original caller mean't special in more of the.... special olympics sort of way.
You both missed the point. The caller was absolutely correct!

Wow the Oilers are no good.
I have been watching hockey for a long time and I have never ever seen a play where both defencemen dont have sticks and for a prolonged period of time no one thinks to give one to them.
The Oilers forwards were so focused on blowing the zone they didnt even notice that neither defenceman had a stick for a stupidly long time.
Dont even get me started on turnovers at the blue line! The Oilers forwards are already at the offensive zone before the puck is out of their zone and then their defence coughs it up at the blueline and its a 3 on 2 if they're lucky! Usually one Dman is making the pass and the other one is going for a change and the forwards are nowhere to be found.
Heres a thought: The Oilers dont have a defenceman who can make that pass so stop looking for it!
Another thing: Pulling the goalie.
At the end of the game, I know its generally out of reach by then but they never pulled their goalie. Even in the last minute of the game they could have pulled their goalie and had a 6 on 3. Nothing.
Its not like they can have much concern for their Goals Against stats, at least try.
And their powerplay? Just terrible! Taylor Hall will just skate the puck into the zone. Thats as far as their plan goes.
"Okay, we have the puck in the offensive zone....now what?"
Realistically speaking though, the game was done and dusted within the first 10 minutes and then the Flames put it on cruise control.
