This is exactly the point!
Yeah, it sucks to have an 8 game losing streak, and it sucks more given the fast start to the season, but this is still really only year two of the rebuild. And over these last 8 games, they've only been a couple of finishes away most games.
Tonight, they scored a goal on themselves, then allowed a second. They could have folded like a cheap tent, but, instead, they fought back to tie the game. This is a cultural piece that is integral, and is not going anywhere so long as Hartley has a say.
It is clear that this team isn't quite good enough, but management can find the players they need, given time. It's not like the Oilers where not only do they have to trade-out players, they have an entire identity to forge first.
The Flames have done the hard part--getting guys to commit to a team-first approach. Now we have to improve specific aspects of the team. This rebuild is still on the right track!
