I wonder how much Eakin's crappy attitude played into the decision. Seeing him refuse to take a timeout down by a goal late in the 3rd, even to the befuddlement of the officials, showed that he had no faith in his players.
Even before that, he didn't seem to be trying any more. He probably would have quit weeks ago if it didn't mean forfeiting 2.5 years of salary.

A lot of Toronto media will tell you Dallas Eakins is a good coach. NHL management, coaches, scouts I talked to unanimous he is not.
