Colborne needs to use his size in front of the net more. He could dominate there, but he just doesn't go there very often.

I thought the Hawks looked much better actually, but can't complain overall. Effort is great.

Hartley doesn't want to model Colborne after Backes - Colborne mentioned he wanted to model his game after Backes. Hartley and the staff have just been working with Colborne on developing his 200 foot game.

Decent period. Hawks clearly controlled the puck more but Flames had 2-3 big chances.

Chicago again is playing largely on the perimeter, and aren't being quick on the rebounds. I feel a lot like I did in the first game in Chicago. The Hawks seem less and less dangerous as the game has gone on. Just seem content cycling around the outside with the puck but aren't generating from dangerous spots.
We just need to get the first break again.

Is Raymond even playing tonight? He's been absolutely invisible since coming back into the lineup, haven't noticed him once. Stajan as well, while more noticeable and working hard, just doesn't seem to fit anymore. He's been made obsolete by Jooris, and I'd much rather see his roster spot go to Ferland or Baertschi

'Hawks dominated possession and have nothing to show for it...Hiller stole his last start at the UC with this pattern.
Your guys have to be sure that your dump ins get BEHIND the 'Hawk D...otherwise the stretch pass will be in play.

Fine road period.
As usual, I get terrified when Kane starts doing laps in our zone. So far they've done a good job of not letting him turn the corner as he skates around. However, they need to keep an eye on him once he dishes because he often circles to the middle of the ice... did it in the first and got a decent shot off.

0-0 after 1 period against the Hawks on the road? I'll take it. Pretty good period for the Flames. They're making smart plays in the defensive zone, which is night and day from the last couple of games. We're not gonna get a ton of scoring chances against this Hawks team, so we need to bear down and start burying the few chances we do get.

^ Keep in mind the Hawks played last night.
I can see them getting frustrated and taken off their game towards the third period if we can manage to keep them off the board. We're the rested team tonight. I can see us initiating our speed and cycle game and catch the Hawk off guard.

Kris Russell leads the league in blocked shots with 92. Had three in the first period. #overrated.

You want Ferland or Baertschi playing 6-8 minutes a night on the fourth line? I get the feeling if that was happening you would be complaining about that too.

Poor guy just can't score. He was money at picking the corners last year.

Ron Maclean just has too much gravitas to be stuck on a afterthought of a segment.
His lead-ins to those epic playoff video montage's are going to be missed.

As long as he keeps piling on the assists I'm happy. I'm sure he'll finish with 6-10 goals by the end of the year though.

Agreed, his points have dried up but he's making up for it in other areas of his game. I've noticed he's not rushing the puck out of the zone like he did last year either. Which would be why his points are drying up. Instead he's methodically working the puck out of the zone.

Ok first period. We have already established that we can play with them. But it kind of felt like Chicago was slowly starting to take over that period.
We need to play a classic road game. Bend but don't break.
