I was going to post this exact thing. I normally don't read much in to that post game stuff and I've always liked Hiller, but I've noticed more than once now that he has a tendency to overemphasize what went wrong out front and then not own up himself in any way.

I think starting Ramo a couple games straight will get the message through to him real clear. I sure hope he holds himself accountable after nights like tonight, don't need a tender that expects the team to outwork his mistakes. It's okay to have those hiccups sometimes, but not as consistently as he's been making them these past couple weeks. We know he can be better.
Hope Ramo takes the reigns tomorrow and shows what he's made of.

Engelland's new name should be teflon. Hartley won't sit him and he is one of the worst defensemen in the NHL. There are career AHL guys who have played for the Flames who are better than this clown.

Who is? Pretty much everything I've seen is conceding that Giordano is the early leader.
Of course, even if Gio leads all defensemen in scoring at the end, being a Calgary Flame automatically puts him at a disadvantage. Al MacInnis had a 100-point season with no Norris because Bourque was more well-watched.

And the first page I venture onto after this has this article:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=740742
which is saying Suter is leading the Norris race. The article does concede that Giordano will likely win the award if things stay but that he shouldn't because his ice time per game trails Suter by a substantial margin and that his advanced stats aren't as eye-popping as last year.

We all know Gaudreau knew exactly where the puck was, whether he was looking at it or not. That is Gaudreau we are talking about.

Now the challenging part... playing at least that well, second game of back to back, against a team that should be desperate.

Sven's my favorite prospect so I'm obviously biased. That being said I thought he was playing quite well and still only 8 minutes of ice-time and no time with some skilled players. He's doing the right things it's time to reward him (love Booms but he shouldn't be with Monahan and Glenny).
Give him a chance.

I agree, but I fear the opposite. If Seto doesn't hit waivers in 2 hours, Sven will probably go back to Addy. Which sucks.

As much as I hate to agree with the ref, Gaudreau clearly kicked it in. If that was an Anaheim player scoring that same goal we will all be saying No Goal!
Too bad though because he could have a better chance tying the game because there was lots of time to go compare to the legit goal by Hudler's tipped in. I believe there was less than 50 seconds to go when they scored. We lost but at least the boys did not quit especially being down 3 goals on the road.
Flames fell into Anaheim defensive scheme trap that slows them down same way as their game at the Saddledome vs the same team. On both game they finally skated better in the 3rd and they get rewarded. Lucky goal on the first goal and bad goal given by Hiller on the winning goal was the difference.

The Honda Curse will be lifted on January 21. Which will come in handy when we end up facing the Ducks in the playoffs this year.
Yeah, I went there...

Hartley put him out 4 on 4 so I think that's a good sign for him despite his ice time.

I thought Baertschi and Knight had some jump last night and created some chances with their limited minutes. Looks like they're building a little chemistry together. Sven is right on the edge of potting a couple goals.

Baertschi had a really good game. And most importantly, he really competed.
As a result, he got a little more ice-time and was put into a few more situations (like 4 on 4).
It's moving in the right direction. Unfortunately for him, guys might be returning before he can move it far enough.

If Sven keeps having strong games I'd still waive Seto before assigning Sven back to Glens Falls.

I don't think there's anyone who disageres at this point. I think it would be the right move for each player. I think there's a chance Seto finds at least enough groove in Addy to be an injury call up, in which case he could be picked up on the return by a team that needs him more.
I think Sven needs some consistent time with Byron and Jooris. They had chemistry, and I don't want to mess with the higher lines.

Sven's 4th line play in Anaheim should earn him some 3rd line minutes with Jooris and Byron. Try Ferland on the RW on the top line, Bouma isn't the right fit. Or, I'd even try Gaudreau on the RW and have Ferland play with Granlund and Hudler.

Waiving Setoguchi before sending Baertschi down is not only the right choice based on who has earned it, but it would also be a huge vote of confidence and message to Baertschi that he is starting to move his way up the roster again. I think that would help him a lot.

I'd agree 100%, but it would require someone else to sit in the press box. I just can't see Hartley sitting McGrattan and Bollig for the same game.
