Remarkably stupid of him considering the standings...

Who would have thought that the Flames would win a game thanks to the goals from Byron, Granlund, Jooris and Bouma.

Just checked the standings. We are tied with Vancouver with 24 points. We are 2 points behind the Anaheim Ducks, who have been amazing this year. The difference? 2 OT/shootout losses instead of regulation losses. We have a +9 goal differential. You know who else has a +9 goal differential? The Anaheim Ducks.

*Canucks only have a +1 goal differential BTW. I don't see them staying this high in the standings for much longer.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a mutha####ing duck.

This team is for real and I'm so sick of idiots who can't recognize a quality hockey team if it slapped them in the face.

I'm flabbergasted at those comments.

Right now yeah, but for a full season? Maybe not. We're only a quarter in. If were in this position at the halfway mark I'll start taking it more seriously. It's a 5 point difference right now between us and out of the playoffs. That can easily slip out of our grasp.

I'm just enjoying the games at this point because they're fun. I'm still not expecting playoffs.

It's unfortunate. He was looking really good.

Flames now lead the NHL with 3rd period goals at 24 (tied with the Habs).

While they haven't played any of those teams yet... its not like they had cake schedule. And its not like San Jose or even LA have been particularly good this year. Nashville has 6 losses this year, 2 against Calgary.

This is one of those silly things that media people engage in so that they can pat themselves on the back regardless of what happens.

Flames don't make the playoffs: Won't they be better with McDavid?! Amirite?

Flames make the playoffs: Next year, wouldn't they be even stronger with McDavid?! Amirite?

I'm not yet convinced the flames are still playing in late April, but I'm getting there.
Totally agree about the odds though. I'm not sure why people keep bringing up California with regards to playoffs. Playoffs means your better than 6 teams in this conference. Edmonton is in this conference, so really it's 5. Seriously though, you don't even have to be in the top half to make the playoffs in the west, you have to be in the top 8 of 14. That isn't an impressive feat on it's own

We've also only played the Oilers once, so what, that's like 9 or 10 points guaranteed right there? We also only played the Avs and Coytoes once, both which are seemingly awful this season.

Meh, I wouldn't say it's been cake either, but against teams who are currently in a playoff spot we're 3-6 so not exactly awesome.

Canadiens are number one team in the NHL. We dominated them in both games we've played them.

Yes, thank you. San Jose lost to Columbus tonight and Florida a few days ago. They aren't as good as everyone thinks they are. They're starting to really regress after years of success.

L.A. always does this. They get into the playoffs in 6th and clean everyone's clocks. I'm not super worried about them until the playoffs.

Exceed Edmonton, Colorado, Phoenix, Winnipeg, Dallas, Minnesota and we're in. Not impossible

I'm not missing out on anything, I'm still having a ton of fun watching our team. I watch almost every game, I cheer for goals and wins. I'll be happy if we make it, but I'm treating this as a bonus year. If we don't make it, it won't bother me.
