Jeremy Guthrie had himself a day: 1 IP, 11 ER, 4 HR against, and his ERA went from 4.35 to 6.7

He doesn't always hit home runs, but when he does Giancarlo Stanton absolutely crushes the ball.

Sportsnet Magazine piece showed he is first in MLB for maximum and average ball velocity off the bat.

Heston throws no-hitter for SF. 11 Ks, no walks, 3 hit batters.

Oddly enough the Royals pitcher has a no-no through 6.

The Patriots Cardinals way....
Quote:
The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating whether front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, hacked into internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel.

Investigators have uncovered evidence that Cardinals officials broke into a network of the Houston Astros that housed special databases the team had built, according to law enforcement officials. Internal discussions about trades, proprietary statistics and scouting reports were compromised, the officials said.

The officials did not say which employees were the focus of the investigation or whether the team’s highest-ranking officials were aware of the hacking or authorized it. The investigation is being led by the F.B.I.’s Houston field office and has progressed to the point that subpoenas have been served on the Cardinals and Major League Baseball for electronic correspondence.

Scherzer about to take a perfect game into the 9th.

His last start he took a no-hitter into the 9th and it got broken up

Worst no hitter ever lol. I was watching this whole game. Best 2 starts in a row I've seen ever.

Pete Rose bet on baseball as a player in 1986 [TheScore].

I really don't know what to think. On one hand, did he bet on his own teams' games or not? On the other hand, so much time has elapsed now, that it's time to forgive and forget. I'm not on the latter side. Regardless if he admits or has not admitted it, he's been embarrassed enough through the years. To me, the real cheaters of the game are the real embarrassments, and what Rose did was far less of a black-eye then what Bonds, Sosa, McGuire, and Clemens did.

Why does he deserve that when he has apparently lied about this ever since the original allegations?

Oh, what Rose did is every bit the black eye that the drug scandals are.

The lens of history does distort things though. Personally, I find the farce that has been all star voting this year to be worse than both right now for that very reason. I honestly can't wait until all sports leagues just cancel those jokes of an exhibition.

Matt Harrison takes the mound tonight for the Rangers. First player in MLB history to come back from spinal fusion surgery.

Pete Rose makes an appearance at the ASG. I thought that was pretty cool.

At the break, who will make the playoffs?

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/MLB.html

Dodgers have played 10 more home games than road games.

Is it me, or is that chart a month out of date?

Today I would think St.Louis, Pittsburgh, and the Dodgers are all going to be in the post season. Washington is a pretty solid bet in the NL East. So the Giants, Cubs, and Mets at this point are all in the mix for the second WC spot.

In the AL I think KC is the one sure bet, I actually think the Yankees are the next best bet to be in for sure. The rest is pretty tough to predict. Houston has started to come down to earth and let the Angels pass them. I think the Angels win that Division. As for the Wild Cards...that is really open.
