Clarke has been is some good movies, but I don't really like him in any of those movies.

Feel like he is a guy where they look and say "He has been in some great movies lately, let's cast him". Without realizing he was actually a detriment to those movies.

Kind of like being the worst player on a cup winning team, you're not that good, but you keep getting contracts because you were a 4th liner on a cup winning team.

I liked it, don't think as much as Salvation but more then 3. Agreed with some of the casting choices that Lube mentioned above though.

I thought Arnold killed it though, the Pops character was really well done and the aging process I bought. Upgrading to a t-1000 was kind of silly but will be kinda neat to see Arnold as that brand of Terminator in the next movie.

Caught the end credits scene at the end, looks like Matt Smith will have a bigger role, he's a pretty poor actor too IMO.

Jason Clarke wasn't the greatest, but who played John Connor Snr in T2? Some nobody, so for me this wasn't that bad. Agree 100% on your comments about Courtney.
I thought it was Dyson's son they had in it, not Miles.

How famous the actor is doesn't really matter. Eddie Furlong was picked out of the Pasadena Boys Club out of nowhere.

Matthew Edwards was on screen for only a few seconds but just fills the shoes. Jason Clarke reminded me of Conan O'Brien or Colm Meaney and his performance had zero gravitas. He wasn't convincing as a war-hardened human-being and he wasn't sinister when he was a Terminator.

Dyson's son was in the movie but his dad was also there (the CEO).

Saw it...enjoyed it...agree with the majority of you.

One question. Who sent "Pops" back to protect Sarah as a child? They mentioned that the identity could not be disclosed so the terminators could not impact the future?.... And in the scene where her parents get killed and Arnold finds Sarah...does that not imply a 2nd terminator was also sent back in time to kill her? That whole part of the movie was lost on me...Did I miss something?

Producers said they know but it's saved/setup for the sequel.

As Hack&Lube said, Who sent "Pops" back was left as a plot point for the hopefully made sequels. As for the T1000 killing her parents and going after Sarah as a child, I was under the impression that it was the same T1000 that showed up to intercept Kyle when he showed up in 1984. In my view it was still part of the attempt to prevent John Connor. Killing her as an adult failed, killing John as a boy failed, Killing him as an adult in T3 failed. So try killing her as a child, and if that fails wait until his father appears and kill him.

Personally I really enjoyed the movie, not as good as T1 and T2, but leagues ahead of T3 and Salvation. I didn't have an issue with the casting other than the 3 punks that the original Terminator meets. They just didn't have the same feel as the ones in the original.

I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't perfect but entertaining. Part of what made the first two Terminators really great was the top notch supporting actors and Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke simply aren't in the same league as Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn. Heck I think Claire Danes and Nick Stahl were netter. They both kind of sucked but there was enough good Pop lines and terminator action to not ruin the film.

Seriously? You thing Emilia Clarke is a better actress than Clair Danes? Courtney can't act period and while Stahl has turned into more of a bit actor he at least can pull off small roles. It's not even close really.

Just saw this. It was a lot of fun. It was certainly much better than I ever would have expected.

Commented in this in the rate a movie thread.

Thought the first half was great, but the 2nd really dragged on. It was too long. The ending also made no sense. Went in with really low expectations, which was why the first half was so enjoyable.

Emilia Clarke is also an awful actor.

Apart from Arnie, Emilia was the best actor in this. I'm not disputing that she wasn't bad, just Meryl Streep by comparison. The casting director/overbearing producer shouldn't work on big budget features ever again. Complete lack of judgement.

I actually really enjoyed this one. I wasn't expecting to, but there were a lot of cool nostalgic moments, especially at the beginning. I thought Arnold's 'Pops' character was awesome, and I thought Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney were both pretty good. I don't get the flack either one of them get, I think they're both pretty stellar actors. The only character I wasn't a huge fan of what John Connor. He came across as kind of a twerp rather than a warrior...just didn't do it for me. Overall though I thought it was cool. I'll buy the Blu-ray when it comes out.

I really liked the movie. The best Terminator film since T2. I also like how it was a direct sequel to T2 and made reference and flashbacks to not only T2, but the Sarah Connor Chronicles as well (which I was a huge fan of). It kind of threw me off though that Lena Headey wasn't cast as Sarah and Emilia Clarke was. And since they both appear in Game of Thrones...yeah it took me a while to wrap my head around that one.

Spoiler!

Arnold was great as Pop. The CG wasn't over the top. Overall good film if your a Terminator fan and wanted some closure after the cluster####s of T3 + T4.

Man... just don't see how you guys could enjoy it. They have an entire universe to explore and they did nothing with it. It so obviously should have been the future war where the humans defeat the robots with some form of twist or time traveling mechanic yet unexplored.

Calling him pops and straying from the original themes and ambience so much just killed it. The whole thing was like a tv movie with zero suspense for me.

I'm the exact opposite, the future war stuff is the most boring part for me. The nods to the past and then the alterations to the past were what hooked me into the movie. Who knows though, since they have their own quick and dirty time travel technology maybe they will end up in the future war time to help out. (If the sequels get made of course.)

There's no doubt the story was far from perfect and IMO a better movie could be made in the terminator universe but I felt the stuff it did well was quite entertaining and enough to make the movie enjoyable to sit through.

Patience paid off! Genisys showed up on Netflix and finally got to watch it. Agreed with many, it was the third best Terminator. Really enjoyed it. Clearly room left for a sequel but have a number of questions/observations.

Movie starts off in a way I was expecting the "Salvation" series to go. Nearing the end of the war, Skynet is losing. We see the original terminator step into the machine and travel back in time followed closely by Reese. This is where a new time line begins? As Reese is going back, John is attacked by mystery terminator. Later in the movie we see that everyone John was with is dead and John is being "Smythed" somehow. Now clearly more time travel has to take place AFTER this scene to account for Pops and the 2nd T-1000 going back in time, no?

So the T-1000 that killed Sarah's parents and attacked Kyle shortly after arriving, are they the same T-1000? If so, where was it the whole time between Sarah's parents getting killed and him showing up after John arrived?

Why was Pops able to build a time machine in 1984 but Terminator John wasn't in 2017?

I'm guessing that the scene after the credits indicates the possibility of sequels and I sure hope so as there are some questions left that hopefully would be answered.
