That's an amazing picture. Jets everywhere and the one spot where there isn't Johnny's scoring. Fitting how his first goal of the season is from his office behind the net.

Listening to Hartley's post game comments, it's hard not to be infected by his enthusiasm--including his insistence about getting this team to the playoffs.
I'm still tempering my overall expectations, BUT...I'm starting to become a full blown #Bobliever...

I noticed the jump on the Flames in the 2nd period when Hartley juggled the lines. He put Gaudreau with Monahan, then he reunited Russell and Wideman. Then when Gaudreau made that awesome wraparound goal, they just outplayed the Jets.
Jonas Hiller. I am liking this signing so far. He just competes everytime he plays. Signing Hiller also benefitted Karri Ramo since he knows he cannot take a day off whenever he plays; otherwise Hiller will get the majority of the games. I love this competition.
John Gaudreau. He looks more poised and had more jump tonight. He made a few good plays and that goal of his and that assist to Raymond's goal was a dandy.
Dennis Wideman. I thought he played well. You should have seen his reaction on Raymond's goal. He took the big hit but still managed to make some play. Him and Russell really works well together.
Mason Raymond. This is turning out to be a good signing so far. He's got the speed and he can also shoot.
Rappa Diaz and Ladislav Smid struggled tonight especially Diaz. He made some boneheaded passes that almost cost them goals. I don't think being sick was the reason he didn't play much in the 3rd period.
Anyways hats off to the guys for making adjustment after the first half. Awesome win and awesome road games winning 4 games and lost 2.
Nothing like a GGWG (Gaudreau Game Winning Goal)... hopefully the first of many
I'm guessing Gaudreau has practiced that move about a thousand times in his life... when was the last time anyone scored from that area on the ice without banking it in? Ever?

I'd like to highlight this. If the coaching staff gets some heat for the consistently slow starts this season, I have to give Hartley and his staff credit where credit is due for the second period adjustments. Hartley seemed to know all the right buttons to push, and he didn't seem to just juggle the lines and pairings all night. He re-shuffled the deck in the second, and then for the most part returned to the initial configuration for the rest of the game. He managed 5 D well for the last 40 minutes, returned Stajan to the 4th line to solidify it, moved Byron back up with Backlund and Glencross...it all worked.
Bad first perion, great second, meh third. Bit of a conflicted feeling.
On one hand it's nice to see that we can get a comfortable win with a decisively average effort. On the other hand, it's a bit worrying to not see more consistent effort out of this team.
I would say this is as expected for a young team this early in the re-build. With age our team will learn to play "their game", but for now they let the other team set the pace.
When the flames play Florida (or Winnipeg plays terribly), the Flames play to their level. If flames play a decent team, they play up to their level.... but the rails sometimes come off late in the third when the experience advantage takes over.
Just my thoughts.
