The flames had way more guys who can hit and fight out there tonight... Team average size means nothing. Look at the flames biggest guy, Colborne, he may as well be Gaudreau's size (and he has half the talent). The Sedins are also not small guys but are non factors physically.
The Nucks had Dorsett and maybe two other guys who have any physical side at all in Kassian and Bieksa. The flames had 3 guys dressed who made the NHL primarily on fighting ability and quite a few more who can handle themselves.
Way too many flybys, Sutter as a GM sucked but he would never have tolerated that as a coach, which I miss. Finish your check... Every time. One play where there were shenanigans after the whistle, Glencross was almost sitting on the bench before they cut to commercial. Team skates and works hard all night but many of them still play like the Keenan era, don't want to go home to the family with any bruises at the end of the workday.

Frustrating officiating and the NHL review center what a screw job. Sedin talks them out of 2 many men. What a joke since when does any player have that kind of clout. Especially that crying loser.
High stick goal goal gets reviewed twice and gets overturned in of course riot towns favour.
Just odd how those 2 crucial decision played out.
If the Flames have 6 more Glencross's and Wideman's then McDavid is a lock.

Paul Byron had a solid game. The Canucks look like a very mediocre team. Johnny had a few magic moments as expected. Both nachos and malts were in mid-season form.

Paul Byron is pretty underrated around the league. I think he'll be a solid middle 6er the rest of his career.

It is haha. Glass houses doesn't even apply ... it's throwing stones at the glass house you built. Except if it was his way, it'd be a glass house without Monahan and O'Reilly on Columbus.
Just the worst.

Yeah, I didn't read this entire thread because by now I am drunk as a catholic valedictorian on prom night... but yeah... Raymond is a wank and belongs back with his kind on the scummy canucks.

This is the year that I will be perfectly happy with awful puck luck, at least until the draft lottery.

The difference between an awful faceoff team and an excellent faceoff team is about 6 possessions per game. Not terribly significant. Faceoffs are overrated because they are an easy thing to track.

Not a terrible game.
Byron looks to me like a player who will be part of the Flames' core over the next 5 years, and one of few who can keep up with JG.
JG looks fantastic. I think the only player the Flames have who can stick with him is Bennett: everyone else may benefit from his skill, but only Bennett has the vision to keep up with it and possibly make Gaudreau a better player too.
I could see Gaudreau, Bennett, Poirier forming a hell of a good line in a few years.

I like Jay and wish him well but a tweet like that one is pretty unbecoming of a guy who may want a future role in another organization. Jay put some good pieces together and got us out of salary cap hell but his era was certainly not a glorious one.

People were laughing at me when I said the Flames are a crappier team without Byron before signing his new deal... the guy never quits.
