[QUOTE=kunkstyle;5022572]If they're small enough, leashes FTW.

Again, if they are small enough, even better than the leashes is a large HulaHoop. safer and puts the kid in a better skiing position rather than pulling them back in to a 'back seat' position. Put the hoop over them, and have them hold on to the hoop with both hands at their waist. you hold on behind them and can steer their hips to the direction you want them to go.
This way they are supporting themselves rather than you holding them up.
Worked awesome for my daughter, and she was 18 months when i started he on this, and she was on her own after a season.

Hey fleuryisgod, do you guys have any of last years rental skis on sale? I'm looking to pick up some used skis for this season. Or does anybody else on here know of any good deals around?

Today I gave my googles (Oakley canopy prism) a test outside, and my buyers remorse vanished (of course it helped that my wife saw the price tag and did not say much), as the lenses really seemed to provide awesome clarity. I compared them to my $40 dollar goggles, and that was when I decided to take the tags off and keep them.....of course I be sick if I ever lose them.....

tomorrow will mark the most time I have ever spent with my daughter 1 on 1.....I am hoping we really both have a great time tomorrow, as I'd love for us to have a sport we can do together.....

Although this is too late, I was at Nakisha today, and it was not bad around the base in the sunshine.....being on the lift was cold, going down was not too bad.

I have a pair of columbia omni-heat ski pants and gloves and long underwear, helly Hansen jacket and I had a buff on my head, and oversize goggles. I was wearing a short sleeve t-shirt, and long sleeve medium weight pop over and a fleece vest.

I was somewhat surprised how busy it was at Nakisha.

Anyone know anything about women's touring skis?

My girlfriend is looking to buy some but we're still fairly new to the idea of backcountry skiing. She currently skis on K2 Remedy's at the resort, and I would expect we'll do mostly day trips and maybe the occasional hut tour in the backcountry.

We've looked at Black Diamond Carbon Converts and another option suggested was Atomic Century's. Either would be a dedicated backcountry ski with tech bindings.

I'm worried the Converts might be a little too stiff, but like I said, I don't know a whole lot about buying skis for the backcountry. Any advice?

If anyone missed out on cheap Nakiska passes, they are doing $10 lift tickets for National Ski Day, this Sat Dec 6th.

Here is the voucher: http://www.alpinecanada.org/sites/de...oucher_eng.pdf

Kicking Horse technically has the longest. But it's slooooooooow. Pano has some good green stuff, not sure if you want to drive that far though.
For the longest, I'll challenge that Revelstoke's 15km green run (the last spike) is longer. However, it's also a cat track so calling it a run could be a bit of a stretch.

If I'm taking my kid to a ski hill to learn then I'm heading to Sunshine....the entire hill is practically made up of green runs. It's just there are no long runs.

I heard Nakiska got free wifi this year. Can anyone confirm? Was planning on heading there this week but have to be connected to email for work reasons.

For anyone that's been out early on, how's the snow at Sunshine/Nakiska? Thinking of going out for the day tomorrow.

Didn't realize they took the crown from Kicking Horse. I stand corrected.

And KH calling it a "run" is using the term loosely too.

What does that mean? Is it more like a x-coutnry trail where you're propelling yourself with poles during parts, or is it better than that?

I was looking at Sunshine's maps, and there are a few green runs that looks like it runs mostly horizontal along the base of the mountain. Can you get enough momentum to carry yourself through those, or am I just viewing the maps too literally?
