Let me clarify, I'm not saying anything that he's done is a bad thing at all. It's just something all hockey players need to learn, to be able to distinguish what is pain and what is injury. The younger they learn that the better. Listening and reading things that Doug Gilmour has said about the kid shows that he basically plays through anything down in the OHL. Unfortunately, that attitude that gives him the drive to play through anything, to want to always be a factor, is also a factor that keeps players playing through injuries that hurt them in the long run. Think if Bobby Orr had realized his knee pain was not something he should play through, and was an actual serious injury, his career could have ended up being twice as long as it was. The same drive that made him the best D man in the world also ended his career early. Learning how to use that drive and commitment in a smart fashion is a very good lesson for any young player, including Bennett.
