So, why would you not spend anything after you ascend and instead hang onto your HS?

Pretty much reached the end of the game now, the only way to progress any further is to script the EDR combo while I'm away from the computer for a week or so to get to level 2600.
Easiest way to level is to spend your hero souls on bhaal/fragsworth and a autoclicker. Ignore morgulis from theoptimizer don't even bother getting it.
Have about 7 days into the game.

At first, the 10% DPS & click damage bonuses per hero soul are better than the bonus you get from ancients.

Early game, you would be better off to have the souls in hand rather than locking them in for a 1% bonus. Let them give you extra damage for as long as you need them then spend on something else to get you moving into the midgame.
Late game, makes sense to have around, for sure.

After buying these 2 and leveling them up a bit, I can now generate 12,000 HS in 30 mins from ascend without any clicking or power activation. Just leveling and purchasing upgrades.

I have all the ancients except for the clickstorm one, which I'm not going to bother with. Highest level is 1700 so far.

I keep getting bogged down somewhere in the 1300's
I have about 25000 HS and not sure how I should spend them...

I think I'm going to focus on my power times (probably try to max them all out) and my click damage ones (for Critical multiplier and general click damage), and then just continue to level up my gold related ones. It's really slow going now - I'm almost to level 1700 again, but that's more than 27 hours after my last ascension.

They added them overnight.
It took me a while to really start getting HS', but once I got a few good Ancients really buffed up, I'm flying now. I ascended last on Sunday morning and have just under 2000 hero souls ready for next ascension. I'm going to push for level 1000 though. I've never been that high

Quite a few more than 3 heroes available. I have 6 I think, and can almost get 7th. but you can see them all under gilded heroes listing.
They scale like they are tuned for the post 4100 frostleaf, since I am at 3000 frostleaf and can barely get the 7th

As you have guessed, HS totals grow faster at higher levels. Got to nearly level 2400 last time (tough sledding up there) and over 90,000 HS on that run (1000 per find by the end)
