We would be legitimate contenders if that came to be.

Wotherspoon fell one spot not because his development declined, quite the opposite in fact. He fell because other prospects had made better than expected progress. I dunno about you guys, but that's pretty awesome.

happy that Reinhart is heading for a solid top ten finish ... kid is such a solid hockey player. Was sure that one of the goaltenders would grab the 7 spot.
Just like Beartschi never got to vote for Reinhart.
Two goaltenders to round out the top 10? Or does Jankowski or Sieloff sneak in?

By the looks of it, Ortio will be jumping about 20 spots from last year's rankings. Wow.

Depends where the Reinhart voters turn next. I'm going Jankowski next, and my gut says Janko will take #9, and then a goalie will sneak into 10th. I can't see Sieloff holding down a top 10 spot with a 2 game season last year.

A year ago, I think most people (including management) had given up on him ever being a regular in the AHL, nevermind the NHL.
Last year, I would have had him behind Ramo, Berra, Brossoit, and Gillies on the depth chart. His performance last season allowed management to trade Brossoit and Berra without concern, and he's basically neck-and-neck with Gillies now, IMO.
Good for him to step up and prove everyone wrong.

Truthfully, Ortio was absolutely garbage at the development camp last year, worse than the walk on goalie even. That's a major reason for knock in the rankings last year (It was done around the same time as this year).
There is a reason why he started in the ECHL at the beginning of the year. Full marks to him though for pulling himself up and into the NHL.

Went with Reinhart. After that it's Ortio for me. Then maybe Gilles or Ferland.

I think it's fair to say that both goalies deserve the #9 and #10 spot. Doesn't really matter which one goes first, but they both deserve the recognition. I think I want to see a little more of Janko and what he can do this year before I get him back in the top 10. For Sieloff, I think he is now out of the top ten only because of the unfortunate events that have happened to him. He too is perfectly capable of getting back in the top ten.
Both goalies will be getting my vote(s) for #9 and 10. 11, 12 and 13 will be Agostino, Jankowski and Sieloff.

Not voting to Max until the players with top 6 upside / starting goalies are gone
So going Ortio, Gilles, janko than Max. Reinhart will make a great ¾ line player and be a fan favourite. I just rank potential over probability.

This "or" is redundant. Vokoun in his prime was easily top-tier.

I went with Ortio over Reinhart. Ortio showed he has the potential to be a decent NHL starter or at the very least a solid backup which is why I ranked him ahead of a forward with 2 or 3rd line potential.
Are there any run off votes if the rounds are close or indecisive? I have no issue with Reinhart at #8 but 70% of CP did vote for someone else. It would be interesting to see the results with preferential voting or a run off. I wonder if all the Ortio votes would go to the other goalie in Gillies or the other well known Heat player in Reinhart.

If there was a run-off in this situation, then Ortio would have to be included. He is only six votes behind Gillies, who is a lot further behind Reinhart.
I suspect there are many posters like me, who did not just happen to vote for whomever they feel is the best goaltender right now. We're not selecting players based on their positions, and it seems a bit silly to think that just because one selected a goalie in this round, he would select another goalie as an alternative. It's close, but I'm not sure that Gillies would be my next choice.

Yes, Ortio and maybe even Jankowski would have to be in a run off vote. Of course if you don't limit it at 2 then you could end up with a situation where the votes are all split again and you need another run off.
As I said, Reinhart would have been my next pick. Like Ortio I have seen him play for the Flames and know he has the potential to be an NHLer. Some voters might consider Reinhart having only 3rd line potential though and would take either goalie over him as both Ortio and Gillies have starter potential.

Forgive me for my cynicism, but plenty of posters like me will have seen Brent Krahn & Leland Irving excelling in the AHL for years before $#!ttimg the bed at the NHL level. His results in the AHL far from guarantee success in the NHL. His cameo with the Flames looked very promising, mind.
1 season does not a prospect make, and Ortio is only 2 years removed from being a complete failure in all levels of pro North American hockey. Based on playing style and pedigree I think Ortio is a solid prospect, but 1 solid season of results (after 2 or 3 poor years) shouldn't justify him being in our top 10, especially when the pool is getting so deep.

I'm against extra voting rounds. One spot here or there is not such a big deal. It would only drag down things.

It's notb like we don't have anything but time to finish the poll before the beginning of camp in September. In situations like this where the winner is projected to finish with an uncomfortably low percentage of the popular vote (a whopping 29% for Reinhart at this stage), then I think a runoff is practically necessary. That is nearly two out of every three respondents who consider Reinhart lower than the 8th ranked prospect in the organisation.

Well, no big deal either way
Reinhart has a pretty clear lead right now though. At least IMO clear enough.
