The TSN guys are being surprisingly positive about this one.

Ward:
-he's a deterrent

Ferraro:
-needs to be a D on Calgary
-3rd pairing player, but every team needs a third pairing

McGuire:
-better player than people will say he is
-popular guy in the room

A pugnacious depth defender who can play 4th line minutes and infuse truculence into the lineup? Not too bad, the sun will come out tomorrow.

Definitely an upgrade over O'Brien but the deal is one year too long.

I'd understand if he was under 30. This guy is a bottom pairing defender who's 32. We're gonna pay him 2.9 until he's 35 when we have young guys like Wotherspoon knocking on the door?

Dumb. Even for truculence's sake this is dumb.

TSN panel all speaking highly of this player. Calling him a fantastic add to the blue line depth. Point out he is a very good locker room guy. Consensus is he is a strong add for calgary.

No they weren't.

~46M with a couple spots to fill prior to this signing. Floor is 51M.

No we're not. Once you plug the holes in the lineup we are easily over, even without this signing.

Brutal...

For all the cammalleri non trade supporters eating up the "don't make bad value return trades and set a precedence" bull rap, well handing out garbage deals like are 100x worse as a precedence. Brodie and his agent must be licking their chops at this deal. He is at least twice the player and now should be justified in negotiating off twice this contract.

Not a smart move by the flames. Clearly desperate reach on their part.

A 6-7 dman. I'm fine with the price but would have preferred 2 yr deal. I don't think the flames are done retooling their D though. I see one more signing/trade.

Between Bolland, Orpik and now Engelland's contract, I don't really want to rank them on which one's the worst.

Thats great, but did we really need to pay him so much? I know, I know, we are still under the floor. But floor or no floor, I can't understand why we offered such a large amount.

Oh well, welcome to Calgary Eng.

Kerr thinks Wideman is out of Calgary beore training camp starts. They want to move him. Maybe since they're giving Engelland some extra dough this may compensate for twhat they get in return if they have something n place right awy.

Only twice the player? Brodie will be looking for 6x6 based on this.
