The ridiculous Sportnet rankings have actually generated some pretty interesting discussion in this thread.

I remember the same things said about Tavares's skating when he was drafted. While he's no speedster today, tavares committed to improving his skating and it is now more of a strength than a weakness. I believe this could be done with a player like Reinhart since he seems to have a committed and competitive nature.

That being said... I would be over the moon excited to get either of the Sams in this draft. Both of them would fit perfectly into the system and I would prefer them over Eckblad.

The more mock drafts/scouting reports I read the more I'm starting to believe that as the groups of prospects seem so even that it will depend on teams needs/preferences where they are drafted. Rather than ranking them 1-10 I think there's the top three prospects (ekblad, Bennett, Reinhart), the next 3 (draisaitl, Ritchie and dal colle) and the next 4 (virtanen, ehlers, nylander and kapanen) rounding out the top ten. I wouldn't be upset if the flames took any of draisaitl, dal colle, Ritchie or anyone that slips from the first group, but would be less than impressed if they selected from the 7-10 group.

I don't think Rictie is that high on the Flames radar anymore. If you asked me before the STH meeting then sure i'd believe it but Conroy's top 5 made me know for sure that one of the big 4 will be a Flame.
