His numbers are actually pretty decent. 40 points in 48 games and 12 points in 10 playoff games.
He could make the 4th line a beast physically and have scoring potential, kind of like boston.
Or maybe he takes it to the next level and becomes a great 3rd liner.

Does he have good speed? Seems like a Cervenka type move with no risk and potential good reward

Excited to see what he can do. As Vinny01 said, no risk with potential reward.

Anyone watch the DEL regularly? Aside from stats and skating style, what's his hockey IQ like?

Speed or not, I am more excited about this guy than I was with Cervenka... Maybe because he actually has size, something we lack in.

his skating has improved in the last few years. He will never be the fastest guy on his team, but his speed is decent enough.

I still stand by my "bull in a china shop" statement. He loves to play a physical game, he's good along the boards, he loves to crash the net and he definitely doesn't shy away from confrontations. Has decent enough hands and hockey IQ to be more than 4th line plug in the NHL. But again, it's so difficult to project how those guys adapt to the NA game. For example, I never thought that Michael Raffl would come over and be as solid as he has been in Philly. Wolf has all the tools to have an equal impact.

Looking forward to him adding a bit of jam to the Flames, and hopefully he will surprise us with some offence. If it doesn't work out, you just move on. Flames will probably have a few open contract slots available this upcoming year to (hopefully) sign some NCAA free agents, but one can argue he will be just as good as most of the free-agents out of the NCAA. Really no risk involved, with some possible upside.

If only BVB was a center... I would like a Wolf - BVB - McGrattan line.

Top tier: McGrattam
2nd: Wolf
3rd: BVB

Interesting interview with Wolf and his 1000 points of light.
Your English is good, but the word you were looking for was 'goal'.

Hopefully Wolf is a German version of Bouma with a tad bit more size, and more fighting.

Good 'ol Google translate. This part made me chuckle:

"The change from David is also a award for Freezers and our work in recent years . On the other hand , the loss hits us especially sporty."

I wonder who the other teams were that were after him? I could see the Canucks being one of them. I hope he rag dolls Burrows real good and moreso, scores some greasy goals on them. All in all, I hope his game translates well. Seems like a real character guy Hartley will like, as well as his teammates!

Welcome, Wolfenstein!!

Wolfenstein would actually be a great nickname for Wolf.

It would a nice find if he can scrape together a 4th line job. Sounds like from his 960 interview he is a physical type player that understands that is how he is going to make the NHL.
Lucic is his favorite player that is a good start.
Cheap low risk move I like it.

Looking at NHLE, I found 2 equivalency rates from the DEL. Wolf is a similar age and equivalency to NCAA prospects so I did a comparison:

Wolf 25.3 (based on 0.37 NHLE from DEL) or 35.5 (based on 0.52 NHLE from DEL) - 24 yrs old

NCAA (NHLE 0.44)
VanBrabant 19.8 - 22 yrs old
Jooris 24 (last year - 22 yrs old)
Hanowski 28.2 (last year - 22 yrs old)
Agostino 30.2 - 22 yrs old
Arnold 43.5 - 21 yrs old
Knight 40.2 (last year - 22 yrs old)

I think we can expect a physical player with some decent hands. I think he'll be in direct competition with Van Brabant, Hanowski, Ferland, Westgarth for a spot as a physical 4th line winger. We may see him in the NHL, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him start in the AHL to adjust. Fighting gives Wolf an advantage over guys like Hanowski but it will be interesting to see him compete. I'm not expecting much in the way of offence but would be glad to be wrong. A low-risk signing that should make the Flames/Adirondack harder to play against.

He is problem closer to the complete opposite of Cervenka-type, unless you meant something else. He is more like Tim Jackman

He's comparing the move to what we did with Cervenka. Didn't have to give up tangible assets to sign him, low risk, high reward if it worked out.

The Cervenka move didn't, but his injuries plus the lockout didn't help.
