I actually would have liked to have seen some earlier games yesterday rather than having 10 or so games happening at 5. I'm not necessarily saying the Flames game should have been at noon, but it would have been nice if they spread the schedule out a bit so I could have watched hockey all day yesterday.

I know. But they may have moved the game to a Sunday and have it at 6 MT.
No guarantee the schedule looks the same with out Rogers.

Certainly like the additional games. They dumped some money into their new set etc, but they need to learn how to use it! As in don't go walking from area to area, cut to it you dummies.
I know quite a few of really good people that work for the cbc though, and am saddened by how this was handled. Their butlersoft management and exec really messed this one up. Too much pride and a little disconnected from reality. Perhaps it was inevitable though

Don't forget that Sunday night is now also an exclusive national window. The game would have been Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

But without Rogers, there's no exclusivity on Sunday nights. THats my point.

Well, the NHL had set out long before negotiations to make Sunday night a property. The rumour initially was that Sunday night was all Rogers was going to get. Regardless of how it turned out, the NHL had set their mind to the fact that Sunday night was going to be an exclusive national window.

That is correct for the regular season on having a CBC game in St. Louis. The last time a HNIC crew was in St. Louis was November 8, 2002 and the visiting team was the stinkin' Leafs. The latest a game could start on Saturday outside the protected window was 1400h Mountain and came into effect for the 2008-09 season.

I was real impressed with the Saturday night lineup. Put two US matchups in the afternoons and we'd be all set.
The whole night had an NFL feel to it. You don't get to compliment sports net very much but it was well done.

I thought the opposite. Did not care for the production nor the analysts/commentators/panel etc. Can't put my finger on it yet but the whole experience/atmosphere sucked.

Kypreos and Cox ruin any panel they are on, so I simply ignored them. The ability to choose between four games, rather that being stuck with one, was a nice change however.

Is there no more after hours? That was the perfect way to end a saturday night, it would be a real shame to lose it.

The other disappointing omission was the HNIC replay. Basically a "game in an hour" thing where they condensed the two CBC games into a package that would run after the "after hours" segment.
It was great for me since I would get home from playing hockey late on Saturdays and be able to finish watching the late game that I had to leave at the end of the 2nd period.

I am not sure if he is still working with them.
I had a chat with him in the Spring in Toronto shortly after this was announced (for those in Toronto the old HNIC crew used to visit the downtown Earl's frequently after games).
He mentioned that he was still in negotiation with Rogers at the time to see if he would be retained. The issue was that with CBC he was still able to live in Montreal, and would just go into Toronto for the Saturday night broadcasts. However Rogers wanted him to permanently relocate to Toronto in order to be a bigger part of the mid-week broadcasts.
With him not appearing yet it appears that he may have made the choice not to move to Toronto.

TSN deserves to lose the NHL rights. How dare they have the audacity to show basketball highlights ahead of Canadian team hockey highlights.

Because it's the Toronto sports network and the Raptors are doing really well?
