Absolutely no way I trade a blue chip prospect for a d-man with top 4 potential.
There are top 4 d-men available every year in free agency. If you can acquire one (somehow) every 2 years, you're golden. Which means, every 4 years, develop one and sign one.
Now, if we could acquire a top 2 d-man for one of them, then maybe.
Should have clarified, young top 4, who has the potential for top 2.
Here's Ward discussing Baertschi and saying that Sven has been playing RW in order to get better zone entry unscathed. In the last couple of games he's been switched back to LW and put with centre Knight who is a RH shot and a good passer.

I haven't voted. I don't want to make a guess as to what management and the coaches think about Sven. As a fan he looks good but has he become enough defensively aware. The other thing for me is, will he learn how to win battles along the boards? He isn't big and strong enough to out muscle defencemen so he needs to learn to be smarter and faster when battling for the puck.

Congrats to #AHLHeat forward Sven Baertschi on taking home CCM/AHL Player of the week honours. 7 pts (3-4-7) in 2 games. Kid is on a tear.

Not really. If he gets a taste of success in the nhl he'll be twice as valuable as he is now.
I hope you are using hyperbole because there is no way his value was halved when he got assigned to the minors, that's silly. He has had some success at the NHL level. He's still got some good value.

Some of CP went full ###### bailing on Sven, you should save yourself the stress.

In other news, the Flames have recalled rookie Sven Baertschi from the Abbotsford Heat to join the team for the remaining three games of the season. Baertschi who was sent down for, well, a rather lackadaisical type effort, was recently called up after being named the AHL player of the week.
I think this statement is false, as i see no evidence of any such transaction... any ideas?

You are not sureLoss! Surely sureLoss would have broken news of such magnitude by now!
^ Me trying not to get my hopes up because that'd be awesome.
1.) Sven gets a taste of the big game again with a team that has forged an ironclad identity while he was developing in the AHL. It'll make him hungry to come back and give it his all in training camp.
2.) Baertschi - Monahan - Colborne

However there is nothing on the AHL transaction page.
EDIT:
Also considering that the Flames put out a little article this morning on him that has no mention of a call-up I'd say it was either in consideration but didn't/hasn't happen(ed) or was a flat out mistake.
No reason to call him up. And I bet they used the old picture from he was originally called up and forgot to change the Subtext. We don't really have a rash of injuries but we did when he got his mini 5 game try-out.
Doubt he's been called up.

I think if he comes up, these next 3 games might be his last chance with the Flames. I don't think he should be traded but I'm not against him being traded if it helps us out a lot. These games have to either be viewed as a last chance with the Flames or him being showcased for a trade.

Yeah, I assumed that's what it was too as injuries don't seem to apply, I tweeted Wes Gilbertson to confirm. I don't think he's coming up.

huh???
Sounds like baertchi has done everything that's asked of him (200' game) and flourishing of late. Rewarding a guy for the progress just sounds like a reasonable next step. He's a prospect. there is no way "next 3 games" are any kind of last chance.

Last chance? And teams don't really look at 3 meaningless games at the end of the season to judge talent. Nothing he does in those 3 games will open any eyes. He is still young and a great prospect no idea why there is such impatience.
Look at Nyquist. 40 games in the NHL before this season and had 13 points total and he's now 24 and has 47 points in 53 games. Baertschi is still 21.
