Anyone know if Ortio and Breen will be in tonight?

Breen is in.

Looks as if Roy will start.

^updates from PBP man Brandon Astle

edit: Ward at post-game presser said of Roy/Ortio that it's a decision they'll have to make. Technically it's Ortio's net, but Roy made his case to play today.

Yeah I have no problem with Roy getting another start. He's played well, and I'd like him to get the net a fair bit (not as much as Ortio obviously). I don't think Gillies will be going pro, and the org probably needs another pro goalie next season, and if Roy proves to be a good prospect, it mine as well be him.

Wasn't there some rumour/speculation that Gillies had no interest in continuing school?

Man, that WJC really put a hex on the whammy for Gillies didn't it? Pre-WJC I had him a guarantee to sign this spring. He had a .941%SV and nothing left to prove it seemed. Now he (and Providence) are struggling and it looks like it would be a real rush to sign him before his Junior year is out.

It my goalie viewings this season, my hope it to only have Ramo, Roy, and Ortio remaining next year. Berra stood tall in his last three starts, but I have no confidence in him. It would have made more sense to me to leave MacDonald up and have Ortio/Berra work the net in Abby, because Berra just doesn't seem consistently able to handle NHL shooters yet. Ramo seems to really be steady in his improvement from game to game.

Gillies? he might be the next guy for the Flames, that was my thought at the start of the year, now I'm leaning towards Ramo/Ortio as guys i'm confident in.

It will be Roy vs Nilstrop again tonight.

Roy earned the chance and I doubt Ortio is going to lose sleep that he isn't starting today and didn't with the Flames.

Heemskreek is still technically on his PTO as well. So we have 4 goalies.

Heemskerk will be let loose after today. I wonder how he was in practice.

Notes from Coach Ward:

*Game last night was not sure what to expect but happy with the results

* Happy with Roy's shootout performance. Felt the first 2 he let in were "rookie errors" but then comes back to stop 5 straight and that's fairly amazing

* Robbie Ftorek actually picks the shootout shooters. He has a system and drill in practice and so he picks the guys

* Hopes that Roy is getting some looks from the Flames after the performances with the Heat. He has risen to the challenge and very happy that things have worked out for Roy to display his skills.

* Happy with matchups last night, both forward and defence in keeping Morin and Sceviour off the scoresheet. Says something about the guys that were playing against Stars top players and resiliency of the team

* Everyone will be going home to Family and Friends on Monday (including him) and get 72 hours to relax and rejuvenate. They will all meet in Raleigh.

22-5-1-1 when the Stars score first. Yikes. That's ok though, this is the Abbotsford Heat we are talking about.

That Street to Olson setup from the office was sweet, can't believe he didn't score.

Hey, what was the deal with the linesmen yesterday? I was out at a show, so I just heard about it in the post-game.

Didn't notice anything aside from it was a two-ref game yesterday as well as today. Same refs today, different linesmen as per schedule.
