If Berra does get the W against the Isle, you still go with Ortio. But tell Berra now so he knows its not because of his play, its because you want to have a look at Ortio. But tell Berra that you are going back to him Vs. L.A. so he feels hes trending upwards.
Thats the only way I can see the team maintaining or helping Berra's psychi... (I spell that right?)

Almost $26k for the 3 games he will likely be with the team.

Can't complain about the call for the Isles game, but Joni should get the last game, I don't think teams will be firing on all cylinders on the last day before the break, likely will be distracted and thinking ahead, so it might be an ideal game for Joni to slot in and not get pounded.

I still don't think he's ready. Unless Bera gets pulled, he will not see action. No need to see what we have in him yet, he is still a few years away.

I would have said that two years ago. But he's gone overseas to up his game, played well vs men, came back, was the star in the young prospects tourney, outplayed MacDonald in camp, is 19-5-0 with far above average numbers in the AHL. The man deserves his cup of coffee at least. One more season in the A might do him good, but he doesn't have much left to prove... He says he's felt ready for a while now. And I think he is (although another year would be perfect).

And I agree, another season or two. No need to throw him to the wolves. We're bad except for our 5 game win streak. There is a good chance he might get blown out and i wouldn't put him into that yet. I really like how a team like Detroit lets their players develope, even when there is a chance they could perform, let them still season a little more until they are a pro.

I don't see any issue with him getting lit up in a game or two. A couple of fans might overreact to it, but I'm sure both the player and the team have enough perspective to move right past that. Would be good to get the initial shock of the NHL out of the way before next season whether he succeeds or not. And whether he succeeds in a couple games or not makes little difference to him next season when he has a chance to outplay the competition right out of the gates.
Having said that, now is the time to give Berra a chance to show that he belongs.
