That's ok Canucks fan. You're squad is only a couple years away from the same thing. You just haven't come to grips with it yet.

There is a BIG difference between cheering for other teams to win and cheering for your own team to lose

I don't need to come to grips with something that might happen in 2 years. So much can happen before that.

A Flames fan taking any pleasure in an Oil victory is a tiny, tiny step away.

Someone's stay here won't be long.

Did triple O's close early tonight?

Think of it as like when you were a little bit okay with your canucks losing in the SCF because that means you got to trash your city again.

It's a win if you win and a bit of a win when you lose too.

We could have trashed it either way. If windows weren't meant to smash then they wouldn't be so easily broken.

Thinking it though is one thing, announcing it and celebrating it is what Oil fans do and have done for several years AND they have been hammered for doing so. It's like when a player gets hurt on one of your opponents. Inside you might think "good" but no need talk about it. But sure, go Oilers!!!! The win actually helps the Canucks and I still wish they lost.

I don't agree with it either, but when you come into our community and puff out your canucks fan chest and compare people to oilers fans and tell them how to cheer, you're gonna rustle some jimmies.

It's common courtesy - something that the canucks fan-base has always lacked. If you're not going to talk hockey, then feel free to take a hike.

Rustle some jimmies huh? I need to work that in to a sentence some time this week.

A night where the Oilers, Canucks and Jets each win their respective games is not a good night to be a Flames fan.

(Except in the case of the Oilers winning. I can see how that benefits us...)

Except they're cheering for losses for draft position.

There is no way the Oilers will catch the Flames, and not much reason for hope/excitement from a win in Edmonton here or there. I suppose the bright side in this to be had (since there is nothing good under any circumstances in an Oilers win), is that these sorts of games help to maintain the status quo, and to ensure that that franchise remains the most inept, poorly run professional sports team in North America.

Another outdoor game with a delay. The sunshine was a different excuse but understandable. That's why evening games under the lights are much better. The Capitals game delayed by rain was moved to the evening and the Ducks-Kings game was terrific. The Rangers sure sunk the Devils 7-3. It looked like the Devils were going to be in control for a while as they had a 3-1 lead but the roof caved in on the Devils and Brodeur. He gets pulled after the Rangers scored 4 goals in the 2nd period. All in all, it was a good one and it was hockey weather. Great 2 goal comeback by the Panthers in the 3rd period at the Joe. Florida wins 5-4 in the SO over the Red Wings. Another great road win had the Jets beating the Bhawks 3-1. The Jets were down 1-0 heading into the 3rd period and score the goals. Great goaltending by Al Montoya, playing in his home town. The Jets have shot down the top 2 teams in the western conf. this past week, wow! The Oilers pull out a win, 5-1 over the Predators. Nashville gets 2 goals called back on them and Scrivens did a decent job stopping 34 shots in his 1st win as an Oiler. Talk about deja vu in the Coyotes-Canucks game. The Coyotes came from a 2 goal deficit just like they did in the Dec. 6 game in Vancouver only to lose in OT, this time 5-4. Gotta say nice GWG by Bieksa, don't see that kind of goal too often by a forward or defensemen. Both Luongo and Smith had sub par games in net. Team Canada is in trouble.

I don't think there is no way.

The Oilers are going to be doing there best to make moves to help them for the short term and get as many wins this year as possible. The Flames, while not outright tanking, are going to be moving guys out that would help them get wins.

The games in hand make it tough for Edmonton to pass the Flames but still possible to see the teams finish within 2-3 points of each other either way.
