What are the chances he signs only a one year contract next year? and with the cap going up how much does he get?

My guess is $6 million.
He is 4th among all players with +/- as well. Now leads the team in goals and is second in points.
Yeah no one will offer him more than $4 million.....

If Boston doesn't win the cup, iginla is on another 1 year deal I'm betting. If they win, he's off to the highest bidder (except Edmonton or Vancouver). Could even end up a flame again....

Iggy love in Beantown:
CBS Boston: Iginla Powering the Bruins
Quote:
In terms of production and fit, Iginla was at least one of the three best unrestricted free agent signings of 2013. And one could argue he was one of the better bargains, especially because Iginla still has 15 games plus playoffs to add to his Hall-of-Fame resume. With the way he’s produced, Iginla’s price won’t be so cap-friendly this summer, but as he raises his price the Bruins’ chances of bringing the Stanley Cup back to Boston increases in turn. And that’s exactly what both the player and the team hoped would happen.

NESN: Jarome Iginla’s Impact For Bruins Felt On And Off Ice
Quote:
Those leadership qualities are evident on and off the ice where Iginla has come into a veteran-heavy dressing room and added even more leadership to an already sound room. “He just goes out and plays his game and plays hard and does everything extremely well,” fellow veteran Chris Kelly said. “Not just one aspect of his game, he’s not just a scorer. He plays hard, he fights, he blocks shots. He’s out there last minute when we’re up by a goal or down by a goal. He’s one of the best all-around players of all time I think. Just lucky to get to play with him.”

I'm glad he's doing well on another team and the fact that it's a team in the east will get him even more recognition. Iggy is one of the best players in the NHL but I'm glad he's gone... A fresh start for both he and the Flames seems to be working out great.

There's only a couple players in the league who can do that, and Iggy certainly is one of them. I'm not holding out for it to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised at all. 15 goals in 14 games? Well I've seen him score 20 in 21 before so it would be pretty cool if he came close.

It's definitely not out of the question. I remember everybody was having this same conversation in 2010-11. "Will Iggy's streak of 30 goal seasons come to an end this year?" He ended up scoring 18 goals in the final 18 games during March and April and finished with a lofty 43 goals.

As much as I'd love to see it, 40 is probably out of reach. With how he's playing lately, I'm guessing he'll end up with around 34-36.

I think the fact that he went to a team like Pittsburgh who were pretty stacked, and still got their arse handed to them the way they did may have opened up his eyes a bit as to what it takes to win in the NHL these days. He couldn't look at his team mates and say their weren't as talented as the other team like he could in Calgary.
He used to be a fierce competitor under Daryl Sutter, but somewhere in the Keenan years he got a bit focused on scoring and away from playing as hard in all three zones consistently. He looks like he's back to buying in to playing well in all three zones, and it's starting to deliver a lot more offence as his team wins. He is playing like a leader again, but the culture of that play is well established in Boston and he's following the blue print again. In Calgary, that blue print got lost somewhere and it wasn't being followed that way.
Glad to see him playing well and making an impact on a good team. For years we were told how he was washed up and would be a 3rd or 4th liner on most other NHL teams. He's still a legitimate top line player, not the player he was, but still a good forward to have on a team that has that culture ingrained in them.

A little off topic, but I hope Boston goes very deep into the playoffs (they should, but you never know). I got an Iggy Bruins jersey for Christmas and I want an excuse to wear it as much as possible.

Iggy has quickly become a fan favorite in Boston. Really ever since his first fight and standing up for Krug who got run into the the boards maybe game 10 of the season.
I will be so happy for Iggy when he hits the 30 goal mark again this year.
The media will report it as "another 30 goal year for Iggy" Mr consistency for goals year to year.
Bruins will give him a 2 year contract to keep him again. Unless he is ok with a 1 year contract.
Leading the team with goals and he will for points as well, money well spent by the Bruins.

36 goals would give Jarome 566. He would pass Bucyk, Lafleur, Modano, Nieuwendyk and Sundin and move all the way up to 21st on the all time list.
Also, last night was his 1300th NHL game.
I still can't believe the Flames got rid of this guy. I was so looking forward to watching him hit all of these milestones while sitting in the Saddledome.

The Flames didn't surround him with the right kind of players and they knew that. That is the only reason they (Ownership/GM group) had to move him because they screwed up their team by making the Flames a 1 punch offense. Winning organizations don't do that they keep the Bluechip franchise player and build around him.
The Flames waited until they had next to nothing left except Iginla pretty stupid.
Looking forward to seeing him playing for a cup this coming playoffs.

Like others have said, it was a good thing for him to go when we found out that rebuilding was the answer for the Flames. It doesn't make sense to hold onto him if he is still trying to win a cup. Winning a cup was out of the question after the 09-10 season.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to come back and be our 3rd line RWer once he wins the cup with another team first. His veteran presence would be awesome for these young Flames. But for now, it was a good thing for him to leave the Flames organization as he chases that cup dream.
Just because he doesn't play his whole season with us, doesn't mean we don't think of him any different. He will always be my favorite Flame of all time.

Honestly, these arent stupid people generally.
I think we all have to admit a bit of guilt here. We all wanted Iggy to stay and win a cup and everything else. The fact of the matter is that over time Iggy became bigger, and ergo more important, than the team. Kipper too.
Decisions were made based on emotions and history.
"Its okay that the Calgary Flames arent challenging for the cup right now because we've got Iggy and Kipper."
The fans thought way.
Its when the coaching staff, the players, the management and the ownership started thinking that way that things got out of hand. They werent trading or losing a player or an asset, they were kicking out a friend. And when its at that point that perspective has been lost it just got out of hand.
One day it will be very interesting to find out who actually stood up and said; "This has gone too far, we have to do this."
And if it was Feaster then when he comes back to Calgary theres a beer on me in it for him.
We have the luxury of not knowing these people and interacting with them every day. They arent our friends. They feel like a part of our community but they come and go and we all move on. But at some point it simply wasnt working but no one wanted to move on. But it had to be done.
