IIRC, Hagman had also played PK in his time with other teams before joining Calgary. Brent Sutter didn't know this apparently (like Brent was also unaware that Kotalik had one of the biggest slappers in the NHL, and used to be utilized on the point on PPs). Hagman was a very good 2-way player, he was just fading quickly by the time he arrived in Calgary (as was Kotalik incidentally).
I am not sure I think the comparison is apt, however. Both Granlund and Hagman had a great nose for the net, and a great shot, and they both willingly go into dirty areas regularly. Hagman seemed a bit more physical along the boards, however, and Granlund seems like a more cerebral offensive player.
