They are human. They will be affected by fatigue.

Not with the effort they put in tonight. Most of them barely broke a sweat. If they're not in good enough shape for a bag skate maybe twice a season, then that's a problem to me. But that's a whole different debate.

No effort from the players tonight other than Berra, who was awesome. Cammy started to come on as the game wore on. The Dome was so quiet other than the last few minutes.

I'm not referring to tonight, but just something to think of when you want the coach to bag skate the players.

The thing about effort is that it looks an awful lot like energy from the viewpoint of fans.

Hartley bag skated them at practice on Sunday I think.

He has every reason not to say that. We are fans. Hold the team to the same standard as the coach does by all means, but understand that for most people this is just an enjoyable way to kill time in the winter.

The goal by Russell was slick. All for a 5th?

-First period was one of the worst that I can recall. Reminded me of the dark years.
-Second period was slightly better, but still only managed 3 shots.
-Third period was okay, of course, but I do wonder how much of it was the Sharks just checking out mentally from a game that they were dominating with such ease.
-Great work in the third by Kris Russell though. He had an Iginla like 3rd. Scored a big goal, drew a penalty, actually got some shots when the team couldn't generate anything.
-Brodie had a pretty good game outside of that horrible gaffe that almost cost them late in the third.
-I wasn't as happy with Stempniak as the radio guys and Hartley were. I thought he struggled in his first game back.
-Bouma had a bad night. Couldn't accomplish anything out there. Wasn't hitting anyone or blocking shots. Failed to get the puck in and out at various times.
-Baertschi and Cammalleri were both trying to make things happen with skill and effort tonight, the difference was that Cammalleri actually did. Sven lost the puck to himself 4 or 5 times.
-Kudos to Stajan. When the whole team was losing every battle he was the first player to actually win some of them.
-Wideman was as bad as I have ever seen him. He was pulling up in battles and letting the Sharks take the puck and holding onto the puck way too long, so that forwards were well covered by the time the puck got to them.
-Berra played well.
-Backlund had spurts of good play, but some real ugly shifts too.

I'm glad that they came back in the third, since I paid to be there and everything, but that was a disheartening game. When both teams played hard, the Flames couldn't hang.

What's really ridiculous is that we only had 13 shots and 5 of them were from Russell.

The Sharks goalie looked so small and awkward in net. It's too bad they couldn't generate more offence as I think quite a few would have beat him.

Pretty horrible effort by everyone on the Flames not named Reto. Couple miracle goals in the third to steal a point, but the score flatters the Flames huge.

Need to play with the intensity and urgency they did in the first half of the last period for the entire game, not just save it for the third period when we are already down by two, and lucky to be so thanks only to a pretty damn good performance by the goalie.

Tough to say, I meant offensively, to a point...put it this way, I've seen them look a lot worse on the offensive end, but the shot totals were't so widely skewed in those games so that stat was not as noticeable.

In the defensive zone, the Sharks were just clicking the first two periods. For the most part the Flames were in the right positions in theory but the Sharks players were adapting and moving around a lot more and making quick moves and decisions, keeping the Flames on their heels, and always a half step quicker then the Flames.

In general, it was a hot Sharks team that knew they were on a roll when they had the puck moreso then a Flames team stinking it up or laying down for SJ. Odd dynamic, amplified by the Flames not being able to get shots on net, but the Flames had multiple odd man rushes, especially in the second.

Bag skates are overrated. The time would better spent doing drills and watching videos so they can learn from thier mistakes.

A rebuild doesn't excuse a non effort for 2 periods good grief.

For those complaining, we are rebuilding. We are going to have games where we are dominated by a clearly better team. They could've done a lot more, but it happens.

On the bright side, Berra was awesome, Brodie, Butler, Smid and Russell had a good game. The forwards didn't show up at all.
