Even more of a mess is that guy's decision to have Lanny's name and number on a jersey style that came out nearly two decades after he hung up the skates.

My pet peeves are relatively minor compared to all the good times I've had at the Dome.
All the Flames and Hitmen games, a few lacrosse games and many concerts.
Will be a sad day when they close the doors but thankfully it won't be for a while.
I really like this "Face Off With The flood" documentary they show on Sportsnet pre-game.

This thread is about pet peeves, why did you enter if you did not have pet peeves directly relating to your Saddledome experience? Just to tell people they aren't allowed to have pet peeves?
Ok cool.

What's interesting is that you seemed to miss the point.
The thread is pet peeves about the Saddledome. I said don't complain about the trivial. I then defined "trivial" as things that don't have to do with the Saddledome.
If you read my post, you would have read that I acknowledged the complaint about the food at the Saddledome as it is something controlled by the arena. I agreed with the peeve stating that it's discriminatory against people with allergies or dietary complications.
Sight lines are a peeve about the Saddledome; the idiot sitting next to you does not.
No I'm not there often, nor have I been there often, I didn't realize this disqualified me from commenting on my experiences or the topic at hand. My apologies as I was unaware that you had to be a season ticket holder to have a valid comment. Here I thought a decade of posting and contributions would suffice. That is my veteran mistake to which I am eternity sorry (although the amount of thanks my post received is bizarre given it shouldn't have been made by an out of towner).
For the record I'm interested in people traps, how they are laid out, what people like and don't like. Again, I didn't realize I had to be a season ticket holder to read or comment, or point out people are complaining about the Saddledome about things the arena couldn't control and I didn't think that was fair, my apologies.

My only real peeve at the Dome is people who just go there to get hammered.
Nothing wrong with having a beer at the game, but if the hockey is #2 on your priority list, maybe it's time to rethink things. And most of them aren't happy fun drunks, but obnoxious jockohomos who yell at everything and everyone, thinking they are funny. Mix in some drunk opposing fans, and it really takes away from the experience.

I remember a few times during the young guns era going up to the Herald Press Club during intermission and not making it back down again. Of course free tickets were easy to come by then.

Most concession lines go straight across the concourse, so you have to go through a bunch of lines when walking the concourse.
The lineups should use ropes like at a bank, Tim Hortons, etc. So lines zig zag along the side instead going straight across the entire concourse.

Simple solutions like this really make me question the management of the dome. Seriously, just put one person in charge of better managing the concourse and you'll see some improvements like this one.

I generally avoid looking at pictures of other arenas like the plague - I like to pretend everyone pays $150 to experience a claustrophobic 80s concrete prison like the dome. Its not even like the seating or viewing angles make up for the horrific concourse experience.

Would it kill them to have more concession vendors patrolling the crowds during the breaks?
Or better yet, not further mark up a product they are trying to sell when they give it to the guys who walk around as vendors? The worst is when those guys try to stand beside the lines (ice cream guy usually does this) to sell his dirt for not standing in line.
I mean I know I get ripped off by buying this stuff, but I'd rather be ripped off slightly less when given the option. It might reduce the lines.
The good thing is that they changed the nacho cheese this year. They don't charge you an extra 1.50 or w/e for it, and they have actually been able to be somewhat generous.

There are not enough thanks for this. Should be brutally obvious to them. Especially when that line-up gets close to the pain-in-the-a$$ Dodge displays right in the middle of the concourse.

Woah, we have a genius here! I'm not sure why the Saddledome fails so badly at Crowd Control 101.

I cannot understand why the Flames and/or the Stampede is not building a new arena. If you want to bring in more businesses, you need a better facility. People say that they don't want to use public funding to build a new arena. I don't see Chinook Center needing public funding to expand and renovate multiple times over the last 20 years. And it is now one of the highest revenue generating mall in Canada. You need to spend money to make money. May be the Flames and the Stampede thinks that consumers are dumb enough to continue to come in droves with the the current level of crappy facilities/services we have at the Stampede ground.
The flood should have been a good opportunity / excuse to build a new arena, but once again, the Flames and the Stampede dropped the ball.

The Stampede has nothing to do with the Flames, the arena nor will they when a new building is built.
