Yeah, not getting this love for Gio as captain at all. He is a very good 3rd defensemen that has struggled mightily every time he has been asked to be anything more than that. The last two years have been rough for him and I don't see him getting better with the C being stitched to his jersey. Right now, we don't have anyone in the organization that is worthy of being captain, so why not just wait? Give 3 players an A and wait for someone to step up in the next couple of years and earn it.

i think a team that will likely be infused with youth, it is important to have a clear veteran leader, through what should be a pretty tough year.

i think having an undrafted guy who has more or less come from nowhere to be a relatively solid NHLer, is a great guy to mentor the young guys with the "good work ethic can get you to where you want to be" type of philosophy.

Why wait? If the lockerroom has already decided on who the captain should be then there is really no point in putting it off. Its not like the opinion of a bunch of fans on a message board actually matters to how the team is run.

And really, Giordano doesn't have to be the best player on the team to wear the C. The concepts of "best player on the team" and "team captain" are mutually exclusive.
