gillis is like an untrustworthy, cheap, sweaty car salesman that inflates the prices of his cars 2x as much as the guy next to him. very unlikeable and smug arrogance just coming off from him.
What happened to all the talk that Pittsburgh needed to upgrade their goaltending and that Miller wanted out of Buffalo desperately.
For Pittsburgh, makes a lot of sense to move Fleury for Luongo as it would provide them with an elite goaltender and cap hits are similar. Fleury's contract is for 2 more years so really it's only another 7 years of Luongo after that (if he plays) to the end of his deal which is unlikely.
Miller's wife is an actress and he wants to go to the W. Coast but goalie situation in California is all locked up. Maybe his wife can take some gigs in Vancouver while he tends goal. Buffalo's owner isn't adverse to long term deals (see Erhoff, Myers and Leino for examples)
Just a big shat show out here. Be interesting to see how it all ends up.
i was kind of growing to like Roberto for the way that he handled himself so professionally through all this. If he fired his agent that can only mean that he is still mad at Vancouver and that organization, and that he wants a trade. wouldnt it be funny if they went from two to zero starters within a month
Dear God Jesus please let that happen. How awesome would it be that the smug VAN organization, run by an incompetent drunk GM, goes from 2 elite starters...to none...and back to the goaltender graveyard it's known for. That would seriously be the cherry on top of a great summer.
Suppose he does come to camp with an open mind - what happens when he put up a string of sub par games or just a big stinker? Hard to believe all this garbage won't come to the surface every time.
It's a matter of time really. The moment Luongo has a stretch of bad games and the team struggles the fans will turn on him like they did before. The difference is that this time they don't have Schneider to turn to as a change of pace and when Luongo struggles it's going to get ugly. I simply don't see how this can work.

I'm really hoping that Luongo has an amazing camp, says all the right things, scores on himself in the home opener, and then flips off the bench and the crowd like this high school kid did:

When we were setting up for Tuesday's event we had a mandate from high above (the GM) to have the floor temp (ice removed) at 15 degrees. It was freezing in there and I don't mind the cold. We had fans on him and everything and that bugger was still sweating like a fat guy eating hot wings in the Mojave.

Yes moving Fleury would make a lot of sense but all of the talk was just outside speculation. Shero said a month ago they're staying with Fleury.
I think Fleury (to buyout) plus something in return would have been an option before the draft
but now now

From #Luongo's co-agent Pat Brisson says, "Roberto has a contract & is preparing to be at training camp." Still planning to speak to MG tho
more Brisson "He has been through a lot the past 18-24 months & needed a different voice & sounding board"
Hey @eddielack I'm warning you now! Don't get any ideas this upcoming season!!! Got it???

Well that tweet sounds like Luongo is more then willing to spend the season in Vancouver.
Didn't expect him to cause a stir, he will want a shot to be the Canadian goalie at the Olympics.
I liked Luongo in Florida, and started to hate him after his flopping antics in Vancouver, but you can't help but like the guy after the way he has handled himself the past year and due to this twitter account.

NHL @NHL As confirmed Wednesday, @VanCanucks goalie Roberto Luongo switched agents.
Quote:
J.P. Barry, a top player agent, confirmed Wednesday he and partner Pat Brisson have been hired to represent Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo.
Luongo had been represented by Gilles Lupien, who negotiated the 12-year, $64 million contract Luongo signed in 2009.
Barry said he would not comment on why Luongo made the change, only saying he plans on meeting soon with Canucks general manager Mike Gillis and assistant GM Laurence Gilman.
“Every team knows your contract,” Lupien told Luongo. “It’s not your contract that’s the problem – it’s what they’re asking for.”
Lupien believes that in being so public for so long about the possibilities of a trade, the team undermined its own player. The media turned on Luongo, the fans turned on him, and there was no escape. He was like “a cornered rat,” Lupien says.
“It’s okay to say you’re going to trade someone,” he says, “ but then trade him. If I want to sell my car, and I want to get a good price for it, I don’t say my car is always in the garage. There’s something wrong with it. No one will want to buy it. You either say your car is the best car you ever had – or you say nothing.”
