Yep of course, but would prefer to save assets and acquire the better goalie to boot.

I see no reason why Luongo won't be a decent enough goalie until his late 30's anyway, and the Oilers will be spending to the cap every year, so they can fit him in their structure until the duration of his contract.

I don't think the cap recapture ends up being bad anyway

if he retires at 39 it's 3 years of 1.74 for the Canucks + new team

at that point the cap might be north of 80m
