Rock bottom in terms of morale has passed. Seeing iginla leave was extremely tough for older, and more casual fans. Was extremely hard to see him go for people who love the flames, even some who were begging for rebuild.

The flames will likely finish lower next year, but it will be ok, because it will have been expected, or at least not unexpected. Most will gain some satisfaction from a max Reinhardt hat ttrick, or a michal Backlund scoring streak, or TJ Brodie positive +/- season.

But, just throwing this out there, 1 in 3, or 2 in 7 chance we make playoffs before the oilers?

2 in 5 we win a series before the Canucks?

Class me as the occasional Kool-aid drinker, but I don't necessarily think we'll be that bad for that long. Giving young guys the torch early & letting them develop in the pros could mean they reach their ceiling sooner. These youngsters are also more inclined to buy into the coaching system, backcheck & give 100% commitment because their jobs are on the line. All of these factors could result in the Iginla-less Flames being a much better collective team. Not to mention, the pressure is completely off. Regardless of results I think next season will be fun to watch.
