General Admission is $16 this year. Children and Seniors are $8. Plus, there are plenty of ways to find discounted or free admission if you look for it.
Through the years, it has always been similar to the price of a movie ticket, and 3D movies will run you $16 now, and even a regular movie is $13.

Yeah I know, but I'm only going in there to go to Nashville North or the Cowboys tent which have their own cover as well right? Crap. O'well, pay to play.

Nashville North doesn't have a cover charge, and Cowboys isn't inside the park.

Oh yeah, now that I think about it, I knew both of those things. My bad, pre-emptive whining.

Part of the attraction of the stampede is that it's The Stampede. I honestly don't know how or why you could give it a 'makeover'
|
Really? You think the stampede would have to 'invent' new rides?
There is countless things they can do to make it better, I think anyone who has went to the stampede for the last 20 years can agree on that.
They're just really cheap and us consumers will continue paying for their same crap year in and year out so they've got no incentive to change. It will catch up to them eventually.

Right so I know I can get my shirt from the Fanattic at the Dome, tick.
Now onto the important stuff, are there separate bars with entertainment etc., which is the best to head too. I need some good suggestions as there will be a small group of us and I want a rip roaring Calgary stampede time. (sorry just a little excited to be coming to Calgary)

Mon-Wed is a tough stretch for me, with six corporate parties to attend. People were absolutely hammered at the one I attended yesterday at Craft Beer Market. I think 50% of the fun of Stampede for me is people-watching.
More of the same today. Unfortunately, my company is hosting a breakfast at 7:30am.

I went to Doggy-do (or was it Bullshooters?) two years ago. Craziest corporate party ever.
Started at 7:30am and the atmosphere basically forces you to get high school drunk. Was doing hooter shooters at like 9am. Good times, but it wrecks you!

IMAX though right? I know $19.99 is the standard for any IMAX movie now, and that $15.99 is for the AVX theatres where you can reserve seats.

I figure you have till about Wednesday till it starts getting bad.
It's funny. Immediately after you walk in, you want to walk right out because of the stench. But after a few minutes, you get used to it and don't give a F.
Party on Wayne... Party on Garth!

This has been true for the past number of years but I'm hoping this year might be different. From what I remember of Saturday night there is no tiled dance floor like in previous years... the whole dance area was just pavement. Without the tiles to collect a weeks worth of beer and puke there is a possibility that they can eliminate the stench.

Ya I haven't been in 20 years so you may be right, I just don't know how you update tradition based on the old west.

Lol, you're such a weird dude. You brag about blowing thousands of dollars on trips and all the money you lost/spent while you're there. Then you get back to Calgary and want to go to Stampede, which is always a great time, and you're suddenly taken aback by the $18 admission?
$18? How can you possibly justify that? You're right, you should just save it for a movie or pizza or something worthwhile.

If you're still looking for bars to go to then my suggestion would Nashville North. It's located within the Stampede grounds so I would plan to get to the grounds early so you can see what's down there. Check out the food/rides/exhibits etc. Then plan head to Nashville North but get there before the rodeo finishes. The line up after 4pm to get into this place can be hours long so if you beat the rodeo you're typically able to get in within 20 - 30 minutes.
Have a great time.
