I think we'll get Ekblad with a lottery pick, not because our luck is so good, but because Edmonton's luck is so bad and this would easily be the most hilariously tragic outcome for them.

The Oilers have had anything but bad luck. They won the lottery in 2012 and then had Justin Schultz land in their lap.

They are simply incompetent.

I'd say it's kind of bad luck taking the wrong #1 pick in both 2011 and 2012

So I happened to catch the Erie vs. Peterborough game tonight in person and got a great up close look at McDavid.

Without trying to pretend I am a professional scout, you can see why this kid is so hyped. He finished with 2 assists and could have had a few more points if not for others not finishing some nice setups.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he was far and away the best player on the ice, but he was certainly one of them, and doing so at 16 years of age. Whoever gets this guy will be very lucky.

McDavid had a 5 point night vs. Windsor yesterday, during which he scored this one-handed beauty:

He's producing at a 1.70 PPG clip this season, higher than any of the top projected picks for 2014.
