Except those data points are what appeases shareholders. "Customer satisfaction" means squat when an airline loses money. Like Air Canada is doing.

Over 2/3rds of our guests would strongly recommend us to someone else and we've overtaken AC in guest satisfaction once more after a tough couple of years post Sabre cut over. That's not to say we don't have hiccups, but I can say without question Gregg is a great leader for WestJet.

Send him a link to this thread so he knows about the complaints being made here.

Best I can do is send it to the social media team, which I've done.

The funny thing about this thread- earlier today I went into my reservation to see if the exit row was still available. (I made the reservation about a week ago.) Turns out not only were there exit row seats still available, but my return flight is a "plus" fare or something; so no charge to upgrade. So for $15 I now have an exit row seat for both of my flights.
So thanks Caramon!

West jet is awful. I fly a lot (regularly hit 80 000+ on AC alone) and its head and shoulders above WJ which really isn't saying much. Air New Zealand, Singapore Air, Emirates air make our carriers look like amateurs when you fly them.
The only reason WJ is still in business is because of the lack of competition. I avoid it, their inept call centers and their useless perks as much as humanly possible.
I will say that they are both rolls Royce airlines compared to Delta though. Those guys are so bad that I think they train their personnel to be that way.

Here's what I really want to know - when the hell will we finally get in-flight WiFi?

I just can't believe that Westjet hasn't connected themselves to one world yet. Their lack of a decent frequent flyer program really sucks. At least hook up with Alaska Airlines for my sake.

The thing that I hate the most about Westjet is that when they came onto the scene, they offered "no frill" service at a discounted rate - fair enough, you get what you pay for. Air Canada had to cut things back in order to compete with Westjet and eventually, Westjet just brought their prices up to where Air Canada is. Neither is a budget price airline anymore, but the service is still budget. For this reason, I hate the effect that Westjet had on the industry in this country.
So basically, we have 2 national airlines that offer mediocre service, but not at bargain prices. They are essentially the same now. In fact, I swear that they have price collusion.

Not exactly. Air Canada has brought their prices down to match Westjet. AC still loses money. Without WJ they would surely raise prices. Take a look at what's going to happen when Encore comes to town. AC is already having to lower their fares out of YXJ, YCD to match.

I would like to know when and why airlines started with their absurd, random boarding technique. It boggles my mind every time I get onto a plane and have to endure the ensuing cluster**** of idiots standing in the front of the plane who don't know where their seat is; having to wait for some guy in row 8 to put all of their crap away. You know what, I am fine with families and people with difficulties getting a head start, regardless of their row, but get them all settled in so they're not in the way once general boarding starts.
And seat the window passengers first, there's nothing worse than having to wait for a parade of people to come out of the aisle and middle seats to let a guy get to the window seat.
I suppose in the future we'll have to pay extra to have a flight that is well-organized.

Why do the WestJet employees in here sound like agents for the DPRK?

Ahh the days when they boarded aircraft from the rear forward. Too sensible and orderly? Bottles the mind why they stopped doing that.

I was thinking they mistook Customer Service for Shareholder Relations.

I don't know if this is the reason or not, but the last time I boarded a plane that was rear to front what the people in the rear would do is fill the front overhead bins with their baggage. (You know- the baggage that now costs money to check into the cargo hold.) So then the front people would board, and all the front bins would be full. Now flight attendants are trying to find places for baggage; all so the rear people could have a nice spot for their jacket.
I also don't know what that would do for the weight distribution of an aircraft either.

Believe it or not, we have run studies and test runs of various boarding methods. In the end we still get stumped by people being slow and standing in the aisles for too long. Not to mention how many people don't follow the instructions on who boards when. If you travel regularly you know what I am talking about.
Same thing deplaning. But yelling at the 80 year old who can't remember where they put their carry on while standing in the middle of the aisle is apparently another kind of bad customer service.
It's like complaining about people people who don't merge properly slowing down traffic. You can complain all you want, but it is always going it happen it seems.
What is DPRK?

This may explain why Tyler's flight to Palm Springs is always late
