Button did have a good trade with Nazarov + 2nd for Leopold.
So the 2003/04 team could have had Filip Kuba, Martin St. Louis, Chris Drury and JS Giguere had Button done things differently and the Canadian dollar not been so bad.
Fantasy land!

I think Conroy could have been had for less than Stillman personally. Yes the trade worked out well for us, but no one knew Conroy would turn into the player he did for Calgary. Stillman however was injury prone but starting to show the player he was going to become.
I also think the Drury trade was a mistake. He never wanted to be in Calgary, it was pretty obvious from the start. I personally would have preferred to keep Morris and find other ways to acquire Yelle.
There were tons of things that could have been done to make the last rebuild quicker if there were different people at the helm.
But you are right it is fantasy land.
However I was just stating reasons why I personally wouldn't be bothered by young guns. Quite frankly they are going to be called that by the media anyways since every team in a youth movement has their young players referred to as young guns.
