I like how this thread isn't about "Has Redford done anything right"

but more of a "She's incompetent, but she's incompetent for reason X not reason Y"

It's nice that we can agree across partisan lines that she's doing a bad job.

Redford is bad. Her election was pretty much proof that the WRP is not electable in any urban center.

Bad times for politics in Alberta.

She will be gone at the leadership convention.

Wildrose can win the next election if they can manage to vet their candidates better.

I like governments that don't waste money, however I'm not willing to accept bigots, homophobes and morons to get it.

I'm not picky, I'd take any of:

Competently led PC gov't
Competent wildrose gov't
Competent liberal gov't

Since the liberals are unelectable in AB, and the PCs are 0/2 on picking competent leaders recently, I think the wildrose is the best chance. But if the PCs can Redford and get someone decent I'd be pretty happy with that result also.

I like the recent leak of the 40/40 carbon tax plan. Shows the government is starting to see the writing on the wall.

Otherwise, hard to pin down alot of bad things Redford has done. She's not responsible for the difficulties in the oil patch which is the albatross around the neck right now.

If you don't understand that basic issue then you don't really have standing to come in here and say she's doing a bad job.

Firstly, you're barking up the wrong tree. The Alberta PCs are terrible, but the Wildrose is actually filled with scary people with scary ideologies.

Secondly, Danielle Smith and other WRP members have stated publicly numerous times that they are Libertarians, and very socially conservative.

Did you never read her Herald columns?

Firstly, you're making things up. Secondly, the PC's are full of many of the same people as the Wildrose.

Thirdly, the PC's have paid off the ATA with billions of taxpayer dollars. That wasn't an opinion piece, it's a fact.

Redford sucks. I can't wait until Nenshi takes over the province. The PCs really messed up with they gave Farmer Ed the job instead of Jim Dinning.

Interesting thought... if Nenshi ran in provincial politics what party would he be part of?

Imagine if it was like the Klein era; the PC's are losing to an upstart party preaching fiscal conservatism (Liberals then; WRP now) and a left leaning Calgary Mayor (Klein then & Nenshi now) comes in to right the PC ship by moving even further to the fiscal right!?

This is exactly how it will play out. Save us all Nenshi, you are our only hope! All 4 current leaders are terrible.

I'd rather Nenshi stayed in Calgary (I don't like to share. ) I still think that the attacks dismissing Redford as a terrible Premier are totally premature. We need another couple of years before we can even begin to evaluate her government.

Maybe Bunk can chime in and suggest a Nenshi-type figure waiting in the wings for Calgary. I would be ecstatic if he jumped to the provincial level sooner rather than later.

I imagine that Nenshi would take a page out of Putin's book and just install Bunk as his puppet-successor.

I'd be very suprised if she survives the leadership convention next November. If the PC's do it right there's still enough time to win back the confidence of Albertans with a new leader.

I guess if your issue is that she changed her mind on things, and not sticking to her guns, but isn't the whole point of running the province to do things the best way?
My issue is with Redford as a leader and not so much the party. Her and Stelmach have done alot of damage to the party image - a party i used to vote for.

I don't understand how a person that is usually so reasonable - like you - can be so hardcore and dogmatic about one political party versus another.

It really brings out a dark side in you.
Welcome to my darkside, I have cookies

As the offical opposition I would expect the WRP to attack the PC's at every opportunity. For sure they go over board at times with their attack ads - something I don't support. It childish and petty IMO.

When the PCs were behind in the election polls they started the fear mongering campaign telling us how bad the WRP party was by painting an extreme view of what they might do. Let me as a voter decide what to fear. Spend your time telling voters like me more about what you are going to do for Albertans.

I used to be a PC supporter but they lost my vote with their last 2 leaders in Redford and Stelmach.

Yet another broken promise by Redford results in cuts to nursing, journalism and arts programs at MRU.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...-programs.html

Betcha one of the first responses to this will be to try and deflect the topic into an anti-Wildrose post, yet again.

What was the promise made by Redford? Do you disagree with the decision by the way? Is this a bad move or do you disagree with it because people are criticizing the Redford government on the issue?
