I saw a couple good shifts, but I don't think he played great. Noticeable improvement after the first half of the game though. The give away to Duchene on the PP was horrible.

To me, he played the kind of game (besides the giveaway) that despite coming out of it with 0G 0A, he didn't hurt his team. I think he even got them going a bit, laying some hits, and being tenacious in loose puck battles. His quote about never wanting to accept losing a puck battle or whatever it was certainly seemed to translate into his play. The same thing kind of happened with Backlund. He went from a guy where an off game would cost you, to a guy where an off game meant he was toiling away quietly defensively, and still in the right position all the time, just fighting the puck a bit.

Got my Baertschi jersey yesterday, expect him to have at least a goal vs the Canucks on Wednesday due to this fact.

Wow, you know expectations are incredibly high if you see someone with a Baertschi Flames jersey at a German (!) league final among all those polar bears and sharks. Need to be lucky to see other flaming Cs at all over here - let alone one of a player in his second NHL season.

yeah ... very close, but he sneaks in.

To be eligible for the award, a player

a) cannot have played any more than 25 games previously in any single season - Sven will not play 25 this year
b) nor have played in more than six games in each of two separate preceding seasons in any major professional league - Sven only played 5 games last year
