To me, he played the kind of game (besides the giveaway) that despite coming out of it with 0G 0A, he didn't hurt his team. I think he even got them going a bit, laying some hits, and being tenacious in loose puck battles. His quote about never wanting to accept losing a puck battle or whatever it was certainly seemed to translate into his play. The same thing kind of happened with Backlund. He went from a guy where an off game would cost you, to a guy where an off game meant he was toiling away quietly defensively, and still in the right position all the time, just fighting the puck a bit.
