Murray absolutely took advantage of Bishop playing a short stretch decent hockey.
No way should Ben Bishop net a top prospect. Just madness from Yzerman; what is he thinking?

Murray wins executive of the year with this alone. Your new top scorer for your third goalie? Impressive to say the least. Love that he had the balls to ask for Couturier too.

If Murray was asking for Courterier or Conacher we were probably going to have to give up a lot more than just Gaudreau for Bishop; probably Gaudreau and a first at least.

While I think Conacher's a little overrated due to a hot streak and playing with Stamkos, this is still just a terrible deal. Yzerman has now thrown away Conacher, two 2nds, a 3rd, and a 4th on half assed goaltending solutions rather than actually trying to acquire legitimate talent.
It's like he thinks he can just shoehorn the Detroit model onto Tampa without the top 5 of all time defenseman that really made the cheap goaltending work.

Bish seems to be having a pretty good game tonight.
5-0 halfway through the 3rd.

Hasn't Conacher slowed way down after a hot 10 games to start the season/
Still a lot to pay but I think his story might pump up how good an actual prospect he is.

I agree, Conacher is a good player but he's not a guy you build around. You don't build a team around a 5'8 175 lb forward. He's a good support player if you have other core star players. Like a Tanguay or Cammaleri.
Bishop is a guy you can build around if he fully develops.
If both guys fully develop, Bishop is the bigger impact player. Conacher at this stage may be slightly ahead if Bishop in his development, but I do t think it's by much.

Ya. The Flames are going nowhere if Martin St. Louis is counted upon to play a top 6 role. Wait... what year is this?

Good, hopefully it pushes Bolts out of top 5 for good.

IMO this is exactly the type of trade that you can't judge immediately.
Bishop has always looked pretty decent but this is his first chance to take over a starting role.
Conacher had a great start but I think the TSN guys said it best that they had a lot of the same type of player and their new head coach knows them better then anyone.
This one will have to wait to see if Bishop can become an NHL starter or Conacher a top 6 mainstay.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I happened to be listening to the FAN in the car when this trade broke, and Loumbardias was saying that TB has a whole bunch of guys in their system in the Conacher mold, and that Cooper knows all these guys well, so they probably felt they could afford to let Conacher go. While Ottawa was dealing from a position of strength, so was TB. FWIW.

How many Martin St. Louis are there relative to big impact no. 1 goalies?
I'm not saying it never happens that a small player like that becomes your key player, I'm just saying the big goalie is more likely.
