I don't blame Feaster as much as I blame ownership for that debacle. It is obvious to anyone the ownership wants to make the playoffs every year. Feaster gets his marching orders from the owners, and if the goal was to make it to the dance this year, then this move makes sense from that context.
If ROR came to Calgary and we finally get our #1 center moving forward, maybe the Flames sit in 9th right now with a few games in hand. Iggy doesn't get traded. Neither does JBo. Our first ends up being 16th or 17th overall this year. You'd get a player similar to ROR at that spot, but nowhere near as proven, several years behind ROR developmentally, and maybe not even the big center we all covet.
Actually, looking back on it, this non-success at getting ROR is what probably kicked over the first domino in the whole sell off.
