Getting fired sucks, and it's not for a bunch of nerds to decide.

Maybe put him on a Performance Improvement Plan for three months first.

I think Chiarelli's statements today absolve Ward. Boston thought the deal was done.

I wouldnt fire a guy for this anyway. His tweet followed the plot correctly up until Iggy nixed it. Its not like he was way off on what happened.

I wonder how this affects trade rumors going forward (they're discussing this on the Fan right now)... might not hear as many rumors of who's going where as quick before they're done & announced by a team themselves or the league.

Chiarelli is pretty dense if he actually thinks that the deal was done. They might have had a deal in place, but it was clearly not 'done.'

Jarome and Don Meehan had to confirm the deal. Obviously they didn't, therefore the deal was not done.

I think back to the fiasco of the 2004 american election and how much egg was thrown at the big american media networks who raced to say who won. The fallout did have many executives large and small either lose their jobs or were not involved on election telecasts in the future.

News anchors were thoroughly embarrassed and chastised. The aftermath had some of the political commentators and correspondents let go by the networks or never to be seen on election nights again.

Comedy shows had plenty of fodder from this and Saturday Night Live did have excellent skits on some of these news people. Aaron Ward is going to have this happen to him for a long time.

He should not be fired but should not be on camera during trade week or confirm any trades. It is his reputation that has taken a big hit and there are many who will never trust him again. That is the egg TSN is going to wear for a long time.

Tough day at the office and he jumped the gun on a rumour.
I hope someone bought him a stiff drink, he probably needed it.

I bet it was McKenzie who sent him the text saying it was a done deal.

My question is, who would trust trying to discuss a deal with the Bruins when it appears that someone in their organization is leaking stuff to the press before it is actually completed. As the old saying goes "The job isn't finished until the paperwork is done".
