Besides, without a sign that things are changing up top, what self-respecting GM would want to come into this situation?
Because I'm fed up with Feaster flapping his gums all the time, and presents the opportunity for a change in direction.

i need to hear feaster/king speak about the current on ice product. Curious when either of them are on the fan next or have one of those season holder sitdowns.

their IQ will be very transparent in a few weeks.

I see our basic needs in this order:

1. goaltender

2. franchise centre

3. top 4 defenceman / leader

4. agitator

Flames management are running this team very similar to what was done with the Leafs (years ago). This team is going to be around 8th to 12th place ......

Then the leadership will retire.....

Flames 3-Step Process to Contention :

1. Admit to themselves they've been wrong and need to start over

2. Replace Feaster with Burke

3. Replace Hartley with Ruff

As long as the Dome continues to sell out, even after a protracted lockout and watching a mediocre, non playoff team, fans are not going to see anything change.

Why should the owners care? People keep buying what they are shovelling...

IMO he seems to exhibit the tendency to overextend his reliance on certain individuals over excessive periods of time, in spite of obvious pitfalls e.g. Darryl Sutter as GM, and now on Iginla and Kiprusoff...probably in gratitude for increased attendance and economic success, which are his main responsibilities.

So the mindset develops that as long as we are bringing in the crowd and making money, don't upset the applecart...the old "Toronto Syndrome".

We've had a world class goalie for nearly a decade. How is that higher on your list than centre, which we've lacked since 1995?

I totally agree that he should stay away from hockey ops. However, KK is not a nice dude, I worked at the golf course he's a member at for 2 summers and he's a bona fide arrogant jackass. He needs to be gone.

This is just so wrong.

There isn't a business owner on the palnet that thinks that spending to the cap with no playoff revenue is a good business plan.

The Flames are no where near as profitable as they could be. Either make the playoffs, or stop spending to the cap. Either strategy makes them substantially more profitable.

The owners DO NOT WANT mediocrity from a cap team. It really isn't that hard to understand.

What they need though, is a president of hockey operations. KK has to be replaced and nothingwill change until he is.

Agreed, especially with Ortio, Brossoit, Gillies, and Ramo in the pipeline. Who do we have coming up that could potentially be a top line center? Jankowski?

As Sebc pointed out, it's his declining stats. I know he looked fantastic the other night, but his overall performance this year is not good enough to get us in the playoffs. You can say it's his slow start and he'll improve, but that may not happen.

One of the most chatty organizations in the league hasn't said peep since the o'reilly handgrenade blew up in their faces, outright refusing invitations to discuss it with a bunch of company men trying their best not to be too negative lest they lose their sources and jobs.

Accountability right there.

Intellectual honesty.

Circus.

You can have Roy, Hasek and Brodeur in their prime in net if the Flames keep leaving guys wide open in the slot and in front of the net it won't matter.

The goalies haven't been great this year (Taylor was awful) but they have also been left out to dry by some awful defending in front of them a lot as well.

The core of the team is Iggy, Kipper, Jbo, Glencross, Cammy, Giordano, and Tanguay.

One of them is getting moved at trade deadline, maybe two depending on what happens with Iginla. Tanguay probably wouldn't fetch anything and Glencross won't be asked to waive.

Expect Giordano or Bouwmeester to Philly or St. Louis. Then maybe Iginla to Pitt depending on how the "negotiations" go. Friedman is right that the Flames are not going to give up on making playoffs this year, but they will probably look at moving out one core member like they did with Regher.

I'll believe it when I see it I guess. Feaster and Hartley, the major hires for this organization, were not lauded as fantastic hires by anyone not posting on this board...

in fact, if it is verified that KK is a problem, that is also a sign of the owner's willingness to be mediocre. KK is their employee afterall. They can fire him if they see the organization going in the wrong direction.

What do you want, a lynch mob? You do realize the the trade deadline is just around the corner and these guys are probably working, not worrying about having a discussion with the fans. Now isn't the time for that.

The management team is not without a share of blame for the state of the team but let's be realistic, they aren't going to come out and share their strategy with you. I'm sure they realize this is a crucial time for the organization.

I for one will wait to see what happens in the next 3 weeks and then make my mind up on how they've done. Until then I have no choice but to wait and see how things proceed.
