Awful PP on the game. You could feel the loss after the 9 minutes of scoreless PP time.
Everything else looked good, especially defensively by all 5 guys, but they didnt deserve it after being handed a huge opportunity

Got a point, MacDonald was a beast.
Giordano saved our ass at one point but that penalty... Ugh

A truly pathetic performance by a loser team.
Meanwhile, the genius GM watches while the team he has assembled with no NHL centers is actually the worst faceoff team in NHL history. Is this guy as moronic as he seems letting things get to this point? They basically can't win a draw anywhere.
The culture of losing continues. Maybe Hartley will have some crafty quote because this team sure as hell didn't do much to win the game tonight in what was absolutely one of their worst performances of the year.
MacDonald was outstanding and the only reason they got a point aside from Giordano in the first. Stajan, the team's only center, was also very good throughout.

Missed the two breakaways
I think it's unfair to assume that Feaster chose to have this centre situation. It's probably harder to get a trade done that we think.
Agree on everything else. The PP was pathetic.

Maybe that's where all the Flames players were on the powerplay because they certainly weren't anywhere near the puck.

This team sucks. Period. Even in the majority of their wins they didn't play very good. No killer instinct at all. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and buying into the usual crap that comes out of the players mouths. Yeah...played hard were unlucky and didn't get the bounces....but hey, they're getting better and are turning the corner haha garbage!

My thoughts exactly. I have a business statistics midterm to study for, so I won't stress out about this loss now. Goodnight, keep it civil, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

A forum post is worse than losing a game? This place is pretty strange sometimes.

This loss is on Hartley in my opinion. I can't believe the way he managed those 2 extended PPs. You want to talk about accountability? Iggy, Tanguay and Cammy should have been stapled to the bench for the rest of the game after that pathetic performance. What a joke, I usually don't get this heated after a loss but that was bloody embarrassing.

When we do get control, try a cross ice pass, or back to the point, all of which was well scouted by the Wild.
We were terrible out there on the pp, and clearly it was a strategy issue.

What else did the coaches say between periods?

Flames goal comes off a face off win, as do most of their other scoring chances. And yet management seems contempt with having what will end up being the worst faceoff team in the league.
Going 23 for 63 is absolute terrible, let's get a center that can win faceoffs please.

Terrible game from him, he tries to draw a penalty by sliding around the ice and crying to the ref instead of getting up and back into the play. That leads to a scoring chance for the Wild and a penalty. He takes his own stupid penalty later. Throw in lazy play and no offense and this is up there for his worst game as a Flame.
Giordano started off well, Parise was getting his chances against him and Bouwmeester, but that's Parise. Giordano was playing solid I thought, absolutely saves a goal...and then falls back down and plays pretty badly. It was a bad play to take that penalty, obviously, but I do think someone should have given him a stick. I notice the Flames are much more reluctant to give away their sticks than other teams.
Stupid penalties and terrible power plays really hurt the Flames tonight, Joey MacDonald was great though and got them that point.
|
Seriously? Because you watch every team every time they lose a stick?
I do recall the forwards trying to give Bow a stick when he lost his...
There's just the tiniest bit of overreaction on this site, no?
Did we play great? No.
Should we have mixed in a pp goal? Yes.
Guess what. ##### happens. We play like this, on the road, we'll be fine.
5/6 points. Can't complain, really. Now go get two in Colorado...

Well of course he didn't choose to have Backlund get injured but he certainly chose to let Jokinen walk and not bring in any center help this summer. Jones is also in the minors. I guess Cervenka is a center but he's had like five shifts there this year. Even healthy, the center depth is a joke and it is costing this team games. I have never seen an NHL team so weak down the middle with multiple wingers playing extended periods at center. And given the fact that the already horrible depth took a huge hit with Backlund and losing Jones, what the hell has this guy been doing? Maybe he has been working the phones or something, but they need help there immediately and have since they chose to let Jokinen walk.
Feaster has definitely done some good things but his lack of hockey knowledge is very very blatant with how the center situation has been managed.

Thread title of "Flames lose 2-1 in OT" would have sufficed.
No need to post something that not everyone agrees with.
This game was not an embarrassment.
